I told you yesterday that I needed several cards for this week and after spending longer than I intended on yesterday's card I really needed a quick card for my daughter to give her friend tomorrow.
Now I saw the colour theme for this week's LIM challenge which sparked off the idea of making a quick one layer card. I masked off the side of my card using post it notes and rubbed a pink TH distress ink pad over the area, used a brown momento ink pad to stamp my butterflies and masked them before stamping a slightly deeper shade of pink Momento flourish. I then added a touch of colour to the butterfly wings using Copics. Once I'd removed the post it notes I felt that something was missing so used a zigzag blade in my trimmer to cut a narrow strip of brown card which I placed along the pink panels.
Now, this card didn't take too long to make, I quite like how it looks but I'm never quite so happy sending one layer cards, I always feel that they're almost, well, less special than other cards that I make, I'd be interested to know how the rest of you feel about them.
I'm using this card for the following challenge,
Less Is More 83, Brown and pink.
Thanks for stopping by,
Julie.x
This is really lovely, and I love to get any handmade cards doesn't matter how many layers are on them they all feel special (maybe cos I don't get that many of them!hee he ) x
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful Julie... and very special!

"Less is More"
This is gorgeous Julie. I really love the design and the colours. I agree with your other comments, all handmade cards seem special to me.

I struggle with one layer cards too! This is very lovely. I really have to work HARD on a singlet! The masking was a great idea. I should mask my next attempt at a single layer - it will be the caution tape - the do not enter - the danger zone - it might keep me from wandering off - and adding and adding....
ReplyDeletePinterest....warning! It is a time sucker! But I do like it when I'm trying to nod off for the night and don't have a book to read.
This really is a pretty card.
I agree with everyone else= your cards are always special-it doesn't matter about the amount of layers- this one is simple and beautiful! Chris x
ReplyDeleteI think it's perfect, Julie, but then I'm a big fan of OLC. It's not really one layer with the strips added; it's just the ideal touch of dimension! And awesome job of masking!!
ReplyDeleteLove your wonderful card.

I love your card Julie and am a big fan of one layer cards in general. I know I'm over the moon when I receive a handmade card however many layers it has or hasn't! Vicky x

So cute and beautiful card! love it!)))
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card.. I love this simple design. I think I feel the same way when I make a CAS card. I just like to add all the fun stuff to my cards. So when I do make a CAS card it feel like I am missing something.. But when I see other ladies CAS card I don't feel that way. I just love them.. This really is a wonderful card my friend..
