Childhood Memories.

It's time for a new challenge with the Southern Girls and challenge 22 is Childhood Memories. I must admit that I was rather pleased that the international sponsor for this fortnight is Heather Ellis meaning that I got to play with one of her lovely images, the NZ/Aus sponsor is Mad for Markers.

The Paper has been in my stash for simply ages just waiting for the right image to go with it. This cute little Pure Innocence image 29 is just perfect for the job.

I had a little trouble at first colouring her with the Copics as I added shading for the features, lol, the poor child ended up looking a bit like a pig. I got there in the end though and I love the way she now looks.

I would like to add that the nearest I would have got to a bird as a child was the time I opened the door and knocked one out by accident. Boy did I get hysterical,I thought I'd killed it! have had a bit of a phobia ever since.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Craft Room,Summer birthdays,
Digital Tuesday 117,Flower power,
Paper Minutes 172,Red and Lime green,
CYPC64,Use red,
Forever Friends,Must include an animal,
Lexis 43,Bugs,(butterflies and Bees on DP)
OLLCB83,Summer flowers,
Stamps R Us, There was a little girl,
Bee Crafty 51,Summer's here.
That's it from me for today,

Summer Fun

It sure has been hot the last couple of days and Scrapbook Sisters seem to have chosen a most apt challenge this week to go with the weather,"Summer Fun" not that I find the heat much fun.I'm even allergic to Sunshine lol! it's no joke when you've a family that likes sunshine holidays, I'm the one wearing factor 50,sat in the shade returning from tropical holidays without a hint of a tan line.

For my DT card I thought my Gorguss Girl would love a bit of fun in the sun so I put her in her brightest sunny dress and fashioned her a sunshine with the help of my Nestabilities.

Loving the Lime Twist,Out of the blue 6x6 paper pack by My mind's Eye Papers, just perfect for a touch of summer. That girlie looks like she should have worn a higher factor sun lotion though ,I went a bit heavy with the E21 me thinks !

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Craft Room Challenge,Summer Birthdays,
MTTCC146,Summer,
CCH73,Beautiful women,
CraftyPad 127,Bold and bright,
So how are you going to have fun this summer,if it's card making ,why not enter this week's challenge!

Ladybug Blog Hop!!!!

What do you want first, the good news or the bad? I'd go with the good news every time! :) So the good news is that it's Tuesday and time for a Blog Hop with Ladybug Crafts Ink to celebrate the new release of Christmas stamps. How exciting is that, even the design team haven't seen all of the releases, only the one we've been given to work with so I can't wait to do a bit of hopping myself to see what the rest of the the team have come up with!
The DT have followed this week's challenge theme chosen by Amanda and it's "Christmas in June"
So in the words of Julie Andrews in Sound Of Music,
"Let's start at the very beginning,it's a very good place to start!"
So the first stop on the Hop is Kerry, then follow on from there. Once you've posted your comment here, the next stop on the hop is "Pinky". The winner of the hop will receive all of 4 of Christmas stamps and 5 runners up will each receive their choice of  1 of the stamps.
.

What do you think of the cute stamp I had to play with,it's called "Dear Santa" and comes complete with both of the sentiments shown on my cards.

He was gorgeous to colour,I used Copics and added some stickles to the tree ornaments.

I decided to make a second card, this time using some paper piecing to create a Christmas table cloth and wall paper, not sure I'm happy with the faux stitching here though,I might go back and alter the corners at a later date.

I'm using my cards for the following challenges:-
First card-
MIM43,Anything goes,
CCC30,Die cuts,
Second card-
TSG113,Use at least 3 dies,
PIO26,Circles,
I'm really hoping that you join in with the fun!
Oh and the bad news????? Today's my last spot as Guest Designer with the lovely Ladybugs! Thanks for making me feel so welcome!
Thanks for stopping by,
Julie.x
p.s Some excellent news,up until July 5th,the new stamps will be available at a discounted price of £5.50

One I Made Earlier!

I Hope you've had a brilliant weekend, I'll fill you on on mine including photos of my Crafty Cabin that arrived on Saturday later in the week. This is just a quick post to share the card I made earlier in the week. It wasn't what I had planned on making, my SIL love Tim Holtz style but I just can't achieve it. This card took me absolutely ages to make even though it looks fairly straight forward and the end results happened entirely by accident lol!

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Secret Crafter 140, Embossing,
Sugar Creek Hallow,Tic tac toe,
That's it from me till Tuesday, when there's lots of fun planned,be sure to stop by won't you as it's Ladybug Crafts Ink Christmas Blog hop and my last challenge with them as Guest Designer.,
Thanks for stopping by,

Feeling Sketchy

Evening all,it's nice to see you! I've always got a card on the go but I can't believe that I wasn't prepared for two family birthdays this week.My Sister-in-laws birthday is today and I didn't get round to making her card till this morning, very naughty, I'll show you that one another time as I'd hoped to catch up with her today but didn't manage it,there's a chance she might look on here before I see her.  This card is for Saturday but I think I should be safe to show it here. I wanted to use my LOTV fairy, I haven't used a sketch for a while now but when I saw this  one I thought it would be perfect.

The papers are from the 12x12 paper pack.First Edition"Spring Feast" I thought the pattern echoed the curls of the hair on the image. The next photo isn't brilliant as it  was taken in the sun light but shows how glittery the papers are.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
LOTV's 102,Sketch by Donalda,
Crafty Creations 124,Let it shine,
Belli 120,G-glittery,
EAC147,Anything goes,
MPS, Wings,
TCSP20,Things with wings.

Anything Goes!

How about a nice easy challenge for a Wednesday?  It's Scrapbook Sisters' Challenge 41 and the theme is Anything Goes! Now I could have got a bit more adventurous with my DT card I know but there I was,sat at the table about to craft when I heard a little voice from a brown paper bag on my desk. I tried to ignore it but it kept on saying "Pick me,pick me!" Ok  maybe the voice was in my head but I have to admit that this gorgeous sheet of scrumminess has been calling to me ever since I chose it as part of a class kit a few weeks ago I have stroked it against my cheek on numerous occasions (I know I'm amongst friends and can admit to this) but there was no way I could use it for a layout,it had to be a card for this beauty! The paper is Haunted,"Harlequin" by My Mind's Eye,it's velour on this side and dotty on the reverse. The Sentiment is Forever Friends, stamped in brown Stazon. I got out my neglected Cropodile to add eyelets to thread the knotted string through and to punch holes for the brads. I love this simple card!

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Clear It Out,Keep it Simple,
SOS5,Tools of our trade,
MIM42,Anything goes,
PIO25,Metal,
CYDA22,Monochrome,
C4C92,Use String.

Don't forget that Scrapbook Sisters also have a fortnightly giveaway so don't for get to enter your name when you check out the rest of the DT cards!

Totally Ladybugs Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday! How time flies when you're having fun and I've certainly been having some of that with the the lovely ladybugs! I feel kind of sad to think that next Tuesday will be my last as Guest designer and that I'll have to return my Tiara! :-(
Till then I'm going to have some more fun!  This week it's Gaelle's Challenge, the theme is "Use some red in your project" So for my card I used the rather lovely, cuddly Magnum with add ons, coloured him using Copics, added on a slice of cake using a foam pad and cut him out using my Nellie Snellen Frame dies.

The sentiment comes with Magnum,I just added some doodling around the edges and a little glossy accents to his nose.It doesn't show up too well but there's also some stickles added to the candle flame. The buttons are added using red glittery thread, no ribbon this week's card as it's for my friend's husband.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Scrappy Frogs,Use Red,
SSIC94,Doodle,
Speedy The Cat 60,Use buttons,
Stamp and Doodle,Male,no flowers,
Catch the Bug,Man's world,

I've Been Doing The Happy Dance

Want to know why???? It's because next weekend we take delivery of a summer house, not just any old summer house but one destined to be my "Craft  Cabin" So this weekend we have been busy clearing the spot in the garden where it is to go. The skip was delivered on Friday and since then we have had a ridiculous amount of rain, we couldn't give in to it so have been soaked to the skin on numerous occasions. This evening we ache all over and I really don't feel like tackling the ironing, unfortunately it has to be done :(
So I've nothing exciting to share in the way of crafty creations tonight, instead I just have a quick card made last Friday, (I plan to make a few simple cards to take to the retirement home where my Aunt lives to be sold at the fete to raise funds.)

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Fairy Knoll,Sparkle,

Bunting And Banners

I can't believe that this is the 40th card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters! The theme for this week is "Bunting and Banners" I couldn't resist using the lovely Echo Park papers left over from my resent Scrapbook class for my DT card. It almost seemed like a cheat as the paper already had the bunting printed on it,I just cut it out, inked the edges, mock stitched and shaped it. I also cut various elements from the paper range and decoupaged them onto the card using foam pads.

The image is by Molly Blooms and was a magazine freebie a while back.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Papertake Weekly,Dads and Lads,
Scrap Creation 14,Anything goes,

Totally Ladybug Tuesday

It's Tuesday and time for Challenge 32 at Ladybug Crafts Ink and my second week as Guest Designer. It's Tams' challenge this week and the theme is "Numbers"!
It's up to you how you use them but if you're stuck for ideas there's some great examples from the Design Team so why not check them out!  For my card I used Winestool Nicky, coloured her using Copics and  placed the image behind my "Nellie Snellen frame" die cut. If you look closely you can see what a lovely fancy aperture it cut from the pink DP, I just added some gems to each cut. I couldn't decide which ribbon to use so decided to use a selection of 5 different ones. The numbers and sentiment are also available from Ladybug Crafts. I just scattered a few gems onto the edge of my paper and glued them where they fell.

I'm hoping that you can see that I used glossy accents on the glass and some stickles on Nicki's eyelids.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Pollycraft 97,Ribbons and flowers,
Woodware USA31,Birthday,
Paper Sundaes 73,Girly girl,
I hope you join us in this week's challenge.

Framed Revisited

I know,I'm at it again but I just couldn't help myself, the LIM challenges are playing on my mind. I even woke in the middle of the night wondering how else I could adjust yesterdays "frame"  most people that commented on Sunday's card suggested that maybe it would have been better without the distressed edge so I thought I'd have another quick go tonight after tea. Let me know what you think :)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:-
CCH17,Monochromatic,
MIM41,Anything goes,
LIM19,One layer in the frame.
That's it for tonight from me,I hope to see you tomorrow for my second guest Ladybug Crafts Ink challenge.

I'm Cold!!!

Goodness gracious it's a bit cold this morning! Hope it's warmer where you are but I'm thinking I might switch the heating on. I suppose if I whip round with the hoover it might warm me up a bit, wasn't what I had planned though! I might have to resort to a few non waffle posts over the next few months and I hope you'll forgive me for not calling by quite so often as I've just enrolled for an NVQ level 3. I'm not so sure it was a good idea as I didn't realise that it's done on the computer so I might struggle a bit being such a technophobe!!!
Anyway,on to today's card, you'll see several more using the same papers over the next few posts as once I started cutting into them, I just couldn't stop myself. They are Springtime by Echo Park and were part of my recent Scrapbook class kit.
The sentiment is by Ladybug Crafts Inc  where there is some Blogaversary Candy on offer at the moment!

The card is very simple, the die cuts are cut using my new Nellie Snellen Multi frames and the flowers are Prima.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
AIF,New,
DYSU23,Birthday,
Scrap Creations,Birthday,
OLLCB81,Birthday,
Scrappy Frogs,Birthday.
That's it for today from me,I'm of to jog around the house and warm up :)

This'll Get You Singing!

I wouldn't mind betting that you are going to have a song going through your head for ages after reading my post for today and if you're like me,you'll be googling to find out the words. It's a song that I can remember from my childhood, though I only knew for sure 5 words lol! I didn't even remember who sang it but now that google has helped me out I can just picture the lady in Question, hair hanging lank, big black framed glasses......So,what is she on about now you might ask ?????
The theme for challenge 39 at Scrapbook Sisters is " English Country Garden" !!!! The singer was Nana Mouskouri,I bet that lots of you have heard it.

I automatically think of wide borders of rose bushes and hollyhocks, lupins, daisies, butterflies fluttering, ahhhh, can you hear the tea cups chinking as they are placed on the saucers? Ok,maybe I have lost it a little ;) I had no idea what I was going to do to capture the image in my head and tie it into my DT card for this week until I saw a little tutorial showing how to make a double pocket card. The little light came on and this is what I ended up with.
The butterfly rubber stamps are years old,by Anitas I believe, coloured using Copics covered in stickles and Glossy accents added down the bodies. The foliage is from Gayle Bonds Flowers and fauna which I stamped onto green and cut out The die cuts my DH treated me to,(don't tell him) they are Nellie Snellen frames and the papers are from the 12x12 First Edition paper pack Spring Feast, very Lovely.

I really wanted to find forget-me-knot seeds, but then thought that these would be just perfect to go with my image.

I thought you'd like to see the card without the seeds. I don't say it very often by I love this card!!!! It may not be a Julie origonal design but then if I was making an easel card it would also be using a technique that someone else came up with.
I do hope you feel inspired to join us in this weeks challenge.
Altogether now
" How many gentle flowers grow
In an English Country Garden?"

I'm A Guest Ladybug

It's Tuesday and time for my first guest spot at Totally Ladybug Tuesday, yay!!!!  It's Pami's choice this week and it's a Male theme. Not too difficult what with Father's Day just around the corner.  I however made a birthday card using the cutest little chap ever, meet Hide and seek Jack! I have to tell you,I had so much fun colouring up this lovely image, especially the tree trunk,it just lends itself to getting so much dimension,I couldn't begin to tell you what colours I used but by the end of my colouring session I'd got most of my 80+ Copic collection strewn over the table!  I tried to show it through lots of photos but in the end gave up but I decoupaged Jack and the owl so they really stand out from the tree. The gorgeous papers are by My Mind's Eye "Out of the blue,Lime Twist 6x6 paperpack. I did lots of layering and added stickles around the edges and also added some Glossy accents to the Ladybug. Both Jack and the sentiments are by Ladybug Crafts Ink

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
CI Paints, Male,
Dream Valley 8, Stamp something,
Catch The Bug June, Anything goes,
CYDA21, Special man,
Wee Memories 59, Anything goes,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my 4 weeks as a Lady bug!
Happy crafting,

CAS and News of a Giveaway!!!

Don't you just love a chance to get something for nothing! Well today Scrapbook Sister's is starting a fortnightly giveaway, all you need to do is add your name to their link. I wonder if their DT are allowed to enter:)

Anyway, take a look at my card  then go check it out!  I'm not sure who the stamp is by but I repeat stamped the image using Momento Angel pink then distressed the edges using Tim Holtz spun sugar distress ink,I haven't bothered with a greeting as it's only meant for a notelet. I just added a tiny spot of stickles to the centre of each flower. The photo looks a bit drab I'm afraid,I didn't have time to get out my light box so went for the "out in the garden" option

I'm Using this card for the following challenges:-
Dream Valley 8,Stamp something,
Catch The Bug June,Anything goes,
Less Is More 18,Monochrome,
Guylou's,Monochrome.
That's it for today,be sure to call back tomorrow for my first GD card for Ladybugs!
