Cricut Happy!

Struggling with ideas for a card for my brother-in-law, I resorted to making another negative cut on the old Cricut. That centre point button sure is useful!

To make the panel look interesting I just pierced along the edges and popped it up on foam pads, wrapped some twine around it and added a charm.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

Starring Two Buttons!

My word, what a lot of rain we've been having of late. It's hard to believe that we have a water shortage here in Kent! Well at least the water butt is full for when the warmer weather comes as we have a hose pipe ban!

Onto today's challenge at Scrapbook Sisters where the theme this week is a recipe, "One Circle,Two Buttons"!

For my DT card I used a selection of papers, a Nestie die to cut an off set circle from a larger circle cut using the Cricut and Plantins Schoolbook, some Xcut Nesting Stars on Pinflair gel to sit around the frame, and a generous amount of TH distress inks to make my papers more rugged and manly lol!

Some inky stitching and 2 buttons tied together with some string complete the card.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
PTT65, Anything goes and Kraft,
AWNB6, Anything goes,
MIM86, Anything goes.

Garden Delights

Evening, How are you doing tonight? It's been a lovely bright day today, spring is just around the corner that's for sure.
I thought I'd share with you the card that I made for an elderly gentleman. I used the LCI Garden delights digi, Wellies Delight, coloured using Copics and distress inks for the sky. The layout is really simple, I just wrapped some hemp around the card and tied a button onto it. The little tags are hand cut, and added to the card with a brad. I then wrapped a tiny piece of hemp around the brad. The sentiment is a stamp also from LCI, actually, To You was stamped by inking up parts of different stamps.

The inside is also very basic with just layers and inky stitching. Don't forget to check out the Ladybugs TLT blog today for a chance of winning one of the latest Teenager digi releases.
I'm using my card for the following challenges:-
CBN17, Floral,
CSF47, Spring,
IWD137, Things with wings,
MIMwith Kraft, Anything goes,
CCH111,Green,
TPE40, Kraft,
CWWC14, For the boys,
GL36, Birthday,
KKKG, For the boys,
CYDA41, Men& Button,
C4C128, Green.
That's it from me for now,

CAS

Hi there, hope you're enjoying the weekend so far. Yesterday I tried to get ahead of myself with Birthday cards that I need over the next couple of weeks as Schools break up at the end of next week and it's not always easy to focus on card making with everyone around. I thought I'd get the Father-in laws card made using this fab stamp by Wild Rose Studio that I found last weekend, thought it would be perfect for him, the in laws have pale green furniture so I coloured it up to match. The paper is from the Forever Friends Good life Retro Collection paper pack. I saw a great card in the week at Kerry's blog and thought that the layout would be just perfect for my card, check out her blog when you get chance, her cards are AMAZING! I'm using this card for the following Challenges:- Catch The Bug April,Anything goes, Fairy Knoll 44,Whatever, Simply Create 40,Do it yourself, Totally Papercraft 60,One for the boys, CCEE1113,meet their requirements, Sisterhood Of Crafters,For the boys, Make It Monday,Anything goes, Woodware USA20,Clean and simple. Thanks for stopping by,enjoy what's left of the weekend, Julie.x

On The Bottle.

I thought I'd share with you today the card that I've made for a friend's birthday, his favourite tipple is Rioja, this is the closest I could find to it. I have no idea who the stamp is by,I swapped some images with a friend at Scrapbooksister's last crop, there's another taking place on the 18th September,it's such a great way to spend a Saturday,I'm really looking forward to it.

The image was stamped onto white card which I distressed using Tim Holtz Antique linen. I used Copics to colour the image but I really feel I could do with more practice as I'm not entirely happy with it. I used 3d glaze on the wine glass,I love the look it's given, sets it apart from the bottle. The greeting is stamped using Woodware's Jane's script.
I found a sketch to follow, the image was rather large and it was tempting to just matt it but I wanted something a bit more interesting,

Create 4 Fun Challenge 34,Birthday,
Creative Inspirations Challenge 74,Wednesday Sketch, was perfect for it.
I'm also entering the following challenge,
Character Cafe,Friday Feature 29,Dimensional Glaze.
I hope you have a nice week planned, for me it's the last full week before I return to work and the children go back to school and college,I intend to make the most of it.

Home at last!

Well,a couple of day's away turned into 10 days stranded in Spain, might sound good to some but unfortunately the weather was rather wet. How I wish I'd known in advance,I'd have taken my Copics and a few stamps with me! Still home at last and our adventures weren't half as bad as some I've heard of.
Now this is a card I'd made for the birthday of a work colleague, unfortunately it was earlier in the week but I'm sure he'll forgive me for giving it late.

Don't you just love this stamp! it's from set 5,Suzy by Marij Rahder,I treated myself to 3 sets from the range at Scrapbook Sisters before I went away when they had the full range of 6 sets available. Do check them out as the images are amazing and suitable for men, women and children. The images are a good size this boat alone measures around 11.5cm x 9cm and there are 13 images in this set, at £9.73 it's certainly good value for money. I added the boat's name using Peel off letters and used stickles on the waves.
Thanks to everyone that visits my little blog, I've so missed keeping up with it over the last 10 days and hope that I get the time to catch up with all the blogs that I usually visit regularly.
Thanks for stopping by,
it's good to be home!

How lovely it's been to see the sunshine today, looks like Spring is round the corner. It can't come too soon for me! Thought I'd share another of my easy cards for men tonight, same style as the black and white cards I made last month but this time I didn't put a frame around the aperture.

I cut the letters out using a sizzix alphabet through my Cuttlebug cutting two shades of each letter and gluing them together, offsetting them to form a shadow effect. I then glued these to a thin strip of acetate and attached this across the aperture.

I found some clear holographic peel offs amongst my stash and shaped the greeting around the centre. I think that the spotty paper is probably "Crate Paper" and the paper I used for the inside of the card was Bo bunny.I know I've done this style before but it's so easy to do and perfect for a boy.
Hope to see you tomorrow,

Monochromatic Men

I don't know about you but I struggle when it comes to making cards for men, little boy's cards aren't quite so hard but unless the man has a hobby that you can incorporate into the design it can get rather hard to come up with ideas. Unfortunately I've got a run on male birthday's coming up over the next few weeks so had to come up with something quick. I woke up this morning remembering a sheet of paper that I bought at Scrapbook Sisters sale a few weeks ago.Not entirely sure who it's by but it could be Papermania as I have a set of clear script stamps that seem to match it. I cut the black bazzil a fraction smaller than my card blank and the paper a fraction smaller again then layered them together using glue only around the edges of the layers to allow for removing individual layers later on if necessary. Next I layed the open card onto the cutting mat of my Cuttlebug laying a Nestability circle die on top where I wanted the aperture to be. I had to run the card through several times, lifting the die and removing a layer at a time. It's quite easy to do this as you can feel when the die is in the correct place once you've removed a layer. With a bit of playing around with the different sized dies I was able to cut a thin frame of black to fit back over the front around the aperture. I stamped the letters for Brother onto a scrap of photo paper using a Black Brilliance ink pad.I then cut them out and and stuck them onto a thin strip of card across the aperture.

The stars were cut out from silver card using various cutters then glued onto black card and trimmed around leaving a thin edge of black showing. I used black card stock inside the card and lined up a silver circle of card so that when the card is shut it fits exactly behind the aperture. I will write my message on the back of this card.

After coming up with this design, the next one was easy,I might cut out and put together another one ready to finish off for another easy card for a man. This time I used my lovely new sizzix alphabet dies that I got as a late Christmas present.
I gave this card a little more dimension by using 3d pads each side of the aperture to attach the banner.I first shaped the ends of the banner slightly so that I could glue the ends flat to the card.I've tried to show this in the photo but I don't think I've succeeded very well.

I really like this design,It will be an easy one to adapt I think I might use footballs instead of stars.
I hope that you've seen a little of today's lovely sunshine,it's certainly cheered up a very cold day.

This is another card using papers left over from this week's scrapbooking class. The paper is the "Celebration Dotted stripe" the punched circles are from coordinating papers from the same range.
To make the card I first mounted the paper onto a thin piece of card a fraction smaller than my card blank, this was to reinforce the paper, making it strong enough to thread the elastic through.

I punched out the three coordinating circles and punched a hole in the centre of each.Working out the height I wanted my elastic to go I punched two small holes at either side of the card, tied a loose knot in one end ot the elastic, pushed the elastic in and out of the holes on one side then threaded the three circles onto the elastic.I then threaded the elastic in and out at the other side of the card pulling it taught and tying another loose knot on the front of the card.I positioned the circles using a small dot of glue to keep each in place.I then glued this to the card blank, added the greeting and doodled using my trusty white gel pen.
Hope you like it,
Julie x
