Over The Edge!

I love the way this Lavinia Fairy stands with her arm held up, I know it's supposed to be as if she's about to sprinkle fairy dust but I think it's the perfect height to dangle things from. I've hung a star from her hand before but today I stamped a heart and doodled a string to dangle it by. It doesn't show in the photo but the heart is sparkly and filled in with glossy accents. I used a white pen to add dots to the stamping.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Simply less is more, One layer, off the edge,
ICB58, CAS,

From The Prefect!

My son left school last week, an emotional day, well for me anyway, he's only got to go in for his A level exams now and they start next week. Doesn't seem five minutes ago that I held his hand and took him for his very first day at school!

So no guesses for which form my son is prefect for lol! He shared his duties with a girl prefect so as is the norm for this time of year, the Woodware stamps came out again! I love to colour these up to match the school uniform, just wish they wore the compulsory blazer of RMGS.

Well, if you're a regular visitor of my blog you'll know that the card blank was created on my Brother Scan N Cut, don't think I will ever tire of making this kind of card,
so be prepared to see more,
I've already got a post lined up with another, sorry!

A Star Prefect.

The usual last minute request came on Monday asking for a card for the leaving form prefect from my daughter's class.
Thought I'd have a go at making a rosette, so simple even without one of the fancy dies. I just used my scalloped Xcut punch and my trusty fiskars trimmer with the scorer instead of the blade.,I just cut myself  two 8"x 2"  strips of paper then used the punch along one edge of each strip, scoring in the centre and dip of cuts, made a concertina fold and glued together to form the rosette, simples :) I used lots of
"thank you" stamps along with a "good luck" to form the background paper. The image stamps are Woodware"

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
CC, Fancy fold,
Jellypark, Geek,
WnW104, Anything goes,
ATSM46, Anything goes,

Lime And Black.

My oh my, it's been a much nicer day today, fingers crossed that there will be no more snow flurries from now on, it's certainly been lovely to see the sun out today!
I made this card to fit in with this weeks "Less is more" theme,"Lime and Black". The swirly black stamping is a Kanban stamp, its first inking, shame the lighting makes it look a bit grey. I once again used my butterfly stamp to make a side on fluttering beauty, I just love it coloured with the lime green Copic with a few spots of stickles. The sentiment is by Woodware,

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
LIM114, Lime and black,
TG178, With sparkle,
CCEE1314, Wings,
ATS, Winged things,
CM, Winged things.

Fingers crossed for more sun tomorrow :)

Two Halves Make A Whole

I've had a photo on my phone for ages, I have no idea where I  took the photo from but I'd seen a butterfly made up of two halves and placed together looking like it was fluttering off the page. I wish I'd taken a photo from a different angle of mine to show it off better, I might see what I can do tomorrow.
The panel was made by sponging pink and apricot inks together then using a Lavinia stamp and the same two shades and stamping hap hazard onto the panel. The sentiment is from a set, one of my first ever buys by Woodware.
(The artificial light seems to have enhanced the apricot but washed out the pinks)

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
LIM109, Colours,
MIM129, Anything goes.

Another Fluttering Trio

I treated myself to another set of stamps with butterflies, this set is by Kanban. I just couldn't resist giving them the bright Copic treatment again and setting them into tiny die cut frames with embossed backgrounds.

I just wish that I could capture just how sparkly the Gelly Roll  has made them, you can only see a hint of the sparkle here, the glossy accent bodies just about show up. The usual paper piercing and the jobs done!

I made a bracelet for my lovely friend too,

Wrapping it in tissue and hiding it in the Grand Nestie Hexagon Petal envelope.

At last I've found a use for this die cut!

I'm using these for the following challenges:-

A Christmas Wedding

This is one of the Wedding cards ordered by a friend of mine.

The wedding colours are black, white and silver with  a snowflake theme.

After attending Karen's class, I just knew I wanted to make one of these folded cards for my friend and luckily the "Karen Burniston" Sizzix dies arrived just in time.

Instead of using design papers, I used pearlescent paper which I embossed. I then made a box to match.

The Honest Truth.

I was sorting through my drawer and found a card that I'd made last year but forgot to send. I'd loved that card and was rather pleased with the way the colouring of the poppy had turned out but it had got damaged so instead of throwing the card away, I trimmed it down and mounted it on to a 2" square of red card, "Remember" was trimmed from from design paper.

I'm using this for
Twinchie Challenge 9, "Hot Colours",
CCC48, Remember,
DD10, Remember,

Clock Watching

It's time for a new theme at Scrapbook Sister's card challenge, this fortnight it is
Now I haven't any clock stamps but I did have a sheet of clock faces that Julie W. gave me a few weeks back.

I used my Woodware girlie and the snail from a set by Marij Rahder, paper piecing them both and giving them dimension with a bit of Pinflair Gel. I added thin lines of stickles for the snail trails, the sentiments are computer generated.

I'm using my card for the following challenges:-

Piece Man!

Evening, hope you've all had a good day, we've been out shopping and I have to say I'm absolutely shattered!
I started this card whilst I was waiting for the family to get ready earlier, I have to say that I really enjoyed the paper piecing and I'm definitely going to do this CAS style again.
The little cutie and the sentiment are from the set of stamps "Mary and friends" by Woodware, she really lends herself to paper piecing. I added a tiny bit of colour and a little shading and shadowing using Copics. The flower is slightly shaped and placed with a touch of pinflair gel under the petals. The flower centre is a mix of liquid pears, flock and glitter. I have a feeling that my camera may be about to bite the dust as the colours look a bit out and I noticed that when I took the photo the viewing screen kept changing colour. I do hope not! :(

I'm using my card for the following challenges:-
LIM73, Paper piecing,
CFC58, Pink,
2Sisters 97, Anything goes,
With Attitude 16, Anything goes,
Delightful Challenges, Anything goes.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend!

The theme at Scrapbook Sisters this week is
This can be the shape or gems, I chose to use both for my DT card.
I cut the shapes from glitter film and a long neglected diamond Quickutz die. I then punched some flowers and added Swarovski Crystals to their centres. I stamped the sentiment and used an ultra thin strip of pink bazil which I cut into pieces to underline and not cover the words, adding the tiniest of crystals to one end. A light brush of a pink chalk eye completes the card.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Papertake Weekly, Bingo,horizontal centre,
LIM72, Shiny.

Scrapbook Sister's Challenge.

There certainly are a talented lot of crafters out there in blogland and many of them entered last week's challenge at "Scrapbook Sisters" It was lovely wandering round and taking a look at all of the entries. Wednesday means there is a new challenge theme, not one that I was happy with as it's an occasion that I myself don't give cards for preferring to speak in person or send flowers if that's not possible.
The theme is "Sympathy Cards" I made a 3x3" Thinking of you card, one that could be sent on a plant or with flowers at such a time. (Although the cardstock looks blue here,it is actually a deeper, mauve)

The sentiment is Jane's script by Woodware and the Pansy is a Papermania stamp, coloured with Copics and shaped, mounted on the card using Pinflair Gel.
I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Make It Monday 80, Anything goes,
SSS&S, Anything goes.

Remember!

This is a usual, quick post with an entry to this week's LIM challenge. For week 40 the theme is Red and Orange. I coloured up my rather gorgeous Woodware poppy and I think the term is called "feathered" my colours together  from my palest YR00 to myR59 using a couple of shades between to help with the blend.

It does seem to show up more orange than red in the photo but believe me,the centre near the pepper pot is unblended cardinal red! I did add a thin black matting layer just cos it needed it and a few dots of glossy accents.

I'm entering my card in the following challenges:-
LIM40,Red and Orange,
Catch The Bug November,Anything goes,
Crafty Catz 107,Anything goes.

School's Out! (Almost)

Happy Wednesday, don't the weeks fly by,I know I say the same every week but I really can't believe that it's time for a new challenge at Scrapbook Sisters. The theme for this week is "Just for teacher" I'm sure there will be a few of you busily making cards for your children to give,if so,this is the challenge for you! I remember making loads last year when my daughter finished Junior school!

I so loved making this card and feel a little sorry that it hasn't got a home to go to,oh well, any excuse to make a card.

I love these Woodware stamps, wonder if Karen's missing them, she gave them to me to play with a while back! The fab papers including the "sums" is from a selection of 12x12 papers,Learning Curve  by Bo Bunny.

The Star was cut on the Cricut and I stapled some ribbon which I had rubbed over with a brown chalk eye. If you look closely you can see that the stripey paper was put through the ribbler.

A Star Prefect!

It's Thursday, great news for me as it means that I've finished for the week and better still,it's a holiday for the schools in my area next week so hopefully I'll get some extra crafting time in :)
On Tuesday evening my youngest put in a request for a card for the class to give to their prefect who leaves school tomorrow. "Can I have it for tomorrow so everyone gets chance to sign it?"  This was at 8pm,boy did I have a late night Tuesday. As luck would have it,I had the most perfect stamps for the job,Karen lent me these Woodware stamps a while back to play with, seeing as how the girls uniform is a pleated skirt,I think they were just perfect.

The badge I rescued from one of my son's old blazers, planning to use it for a scrapbook layout  but I thought it would make a lovely addition to the card instead. I just used various stamps to create the text in the background. My daughter was thrilled, she got extra house points for her form and even came home with a note from the teacher thanking me.

I'm going to use This card for the following challenges:- Crafting All Seasons 1,Anything goes, DCC525,Stitching,

I can't believe how quickly the days are flying past,my insides turn somersaults whenever I think how close the big day is. I haven't made any cards this week but I thought I'd share one of last weekends makes.

The stamp is by Woodware as is the greeting.I used some wired ribbon to make the bow then punched a couple of holes into the card to thread ribbon through which I passed over the centre point of the bow and taped to the back of the card.
