I'll Be Quick

I'd already made a card for my nieces wedding today but suddenly thought that maybe I should have made a more "Grown Up" card, here's what I came up with but I'm really not sure if I like it, or if I'm going to give it. I used the Cricut and the Calligraphy Collection cartridge and some Coredination card stock.I used a purple Gel pen to draw a frame, leaving space for the gems. Jodi does this all the time and I've always admired the look.I used foam pads to give dimention to the hearts.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

Crafty Sentiments,Wedding,

DYSU17,Make it pop,

Freshly Brewed 44,Wedding.

Whatever you're up to today,have a great day,me,I'm off to a wedding.

Card Challenge 33.

It's Wednesday and time for another card Challenge! The theme for this week's challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Distress. Now,this was so far out of my comfort zone, I did go easy with the edge of my scissors dragging them too and fro the edges of my paper a few times before hyperventilating and deciding that I'd concentrate on using inks to distress the edges of my card stock and papers instead.
The gorgeous papers are from the 12x12 paper pad "Spring Feast" by First Addition. I cut the rectangular focal panel having already cut the flower petals to fall outside of the cut (hope this makes sense) I cut another flower which I shaped and stuck over the first finishing the centre with a button. All of the swirls were hand cut from the paper. The butterfly punch was the first punch I ever bought many years ago,I really must use it more often,I added long glass beads for the bodies but wasn't sure I liked them,a thin trail of stickles on top made them look much nicer I think.
Come and get Distressed with us this week, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Dubai

Happy Easter all,I still haven't had time to make any cards to show you the only reason I've got a few minutes to share my photo is I'm waiting for my mum to arrive for dinner.I haven't mentioned before but I've just returned from a two week holiday where we cruised around India, starting and finishing with an over night stop in Dubai.
I'm usually pants at taking photos,I can only manage the blogging type that involve using my light studio. Imagine my surprise when it came about that "My" photo was the best one taken from the window of the 18th floor where we stayed the one night.
I don't think I'll be sharing any others as most were either too dark, wrongly positioned or completely blurred. David Bailey I'm not! I could do with a few lessons.
Have a great holiday weekend,

Card Challenge 32

Another Wednesday and another Card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters. The challenge this week is "buttons" that's an easy one for everyone, everyone likes to use buttons don't they? I thought I'd fish out some long forgotten Quickutz dies and cut out some flowers and stems and then use some lovely buttons for the flower centres. I used my Martha Stewart border punch on some offcuts of paper and added some fake stitching to the centre panel.
I then threaded two buttons together and used the thread to tie across the pinched ribbon to form a bow then wrapped the chord around the front panel of the card.

I decorated the inside of my card to match the card front.

Now,I do hope that you join us in this weeks challenge,I can certainly think of one of my blogging buddies who's sure to enter the challenge, like me,she has a bit of a "thing" about buttons,I believe she even has more than I have. (Yes Nancy,I'm talking about you ;) )

Thanks for stopping by,

catch you later,

Scrapbook Sister's Card Challenge 31

Yes,it's Wednesday again,I can't believe how quick the time flies by. It's time for a new card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters and the theme this week is Wedding or Anniversary, how topical is that, you could make a card for William and Kate, wonder if they're ready for their big day? Now I've got a bit of a confession to make,my card is not really a card, well,it is a card but it's a wallet disguised as a card. Are you confused? let me explain,my lovely Niece is getting married the day after Wills and Kate, and as they already have everything they need for their home,we are giving them a cheque towards their honeymoon,if you look closely at the photo you might notice the pocket on the inside of the card to hold the cheque.
Hope you join us in this week's challenge,

Southern Girls Challenge

Here I am,back again with my second post of the day, this time with my Design Team card for Southern Girls. There's a great sketch to follow this time, take a look and see what you think.......... As usual there's great sponsors for this challenge, there's Stamp Fairy for NZ and Australian entries and there's Sassy Cheryl and Joanna Sheene for everyone else, got to be good ;) I don't tend to follow sketches very often and I've got to be honest,I panicked when I knew this challenge was coming up,I needn't have worried though, it was easy,I just substituted one of the sections with ribbon and ric-rack. The image is an old faithful "Forever Friends" stamp that came free with a magazine yonks ago,I just coloured him using Copics and used my circle Nestabilities to cut him out. I thought he'd be perfect for a card for a toddler. The DP is from the paper pack "Forever Friends Good life Retro collection. I even decorated the inside using off cuts from the pack.
I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

Catch The Bug April,Anything goes,

High Hopes 106,For the boys,

Make it Monday 31,Anything goes,

Crafty Emma 30,Children,

Crafty Anns 36,Inspired by an Elvis song,(Teddy Bear).

Happy Wednesday! You know what that means,it's time for a new challenge at Scrapbook Sisters and this weeks theme is "Yellow" Now you know what us crafters are like,we always find fault with what we make but for once,I'm going to say "I love this card!" I'm so happy with how it turned out. I used my Forever Friends Easter stamps and a selection of yellow Copics. The little chick I cut out and mounted using a pop dot and I then used my Copic fineliner,to create the doodling, simple as that! Why not take a look at what the rest of the design team have created, hopefully you'll be inspired to join us in this week's challenge. I'll be back with another post this evening, till then, Thanks for stopping by, Julie.x

CAS

Hi there, hope you're enjoying the weekend so far. Yesterday I tried to get ahead of myself with Birthday cards that I need over the next couple of weeks as Schools break up at the end of next week and it's not always easy to focus on card making with everyone around. I thought I'd get the Father-in laws card made using this fab stamp by Wild Rose Studio that I found last weekend, thought it would be perfect for him, the in laws have pale green furniture so I coloured it up to match. The paper is from the Forever Friends Good life Retro Collection paper pack. I saw a great card in the week at Kerry's blog and thought that the layout would be just perfect for my card, check out her blog when you get chance, her cards are AMAZING! I'm using this card for the following Challenges:- Catch The Bug April,Anything goes, Fairy Knoll 44,Whatever, Simply Create 40,Do it yourself, Totally Papercraft 60,One for the boys, CCEE1113,meet their requirements, Sisterhood Of Crafters,For the boys, Make It Monday,Anything goes, Woodware USA20,Clean and simple. Thanks for stopping by,enjoy what's left of the weekend, Julie.x

Breaking News!

I posted a card a couple of weeks ago using Gayle Bond's Cross Image,I said at the time I would let you know once it was released. Well, the Cross and another beautiful Easter image have now been released, you can find examples of cards made using both of the digis here, along with a link to the Scrapbook Sister's shop where you can view all of Gayle's beautiful images.. I thought you might like to see another card that I made using the cross but excuse the photo, the colours look a bit harsh and after seeing it on here I was going to alter the card and distress the edges of the embossed image but in real life it looks just fine, so I decided not to lol! I cut my card using a Scalloped Nestie then cut another from Yellow felt, don't know if you've tried it but it cuts beautifully, you just need to add a thin piece of card on top of the die when you run it through the Cuttlebug to ensure that there is a good clean cut. Something else I discovered purely by accident was that if you place a piece of felt over the embossed image and run it back through the cuttlebug with the die back in place,it softens the embossing slightly, give it a try and you'll see what I mean. I'm using this card or the following challenges:- AI73,Bright as day, Craft Us Crazy 5,Here comes Spring, Crafts And Me 28,Use Yellow, Creative Craft World,Easter, Spoonfull Of Sugar 145,Easter, High Hopes 105,Use fabric, Creative Stamp Friends 21,Spring, Karens Doodles,Easter, Woodware USA20,CAS. That's all from me for today, Thanks for stopping by, Julie.x
