Celebrate Sunday.

I'm sorry,I'm at it again but it is Sunday and what started as a little tidy up ended with me making another LIM card. I found another of my ancient Anita's stamps I didn't realise how many of them had stars on them. So without further ado here's today's card, apologies for the not so good photo again, we went away for a few days this week and I altered the settings on my camera, you know what I'm like with all things technical lol!

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

Man Oman!

I don't always share the layouts that I make at Scrapbook Sister's fortnightly classes but I was really pleased with this one. I freestyle a whole lot more these days, just using the odd bits from the inspirational layouts that the girls make to inspire us. Here I used the circles that they'd used but took my inspiration from the shapes in the photos

I love the chipboard alphabets,I just sanded down the letters and rubbed them over with inks. I used my copics to colour the gems to match.

The flowers were punched  and distressed and the swirls of brown were hand cut, just went with the flow lol! I used a looped scallop type punch on one of the papers but when I placed it onto the background it didn't look quite as I'd hoped so I placed a thin strip of  the chevron type paper through the centre which improved the look (to me anyway).

Anything Goes!

I did warn you that I still had some "special age" birthday cards to make, I have tried to vary my designs to keep my regulars interested lol! So with that in mind, this week's Anything Goes challenge at Scrapbook Sisters (which is actually going to be over a fortnight this time) was a perfect opportunity to make another. For my DT card I once again used my Cricut and Plantins Schoolbook to cut the numbers and the star, The fancy  die cut circle was cut using a Nellie Snellen die and a Nestie circle to remove the centre, I used a star embossing folder to create the background and added a bit of interest to the DP by stamping flowers randomly in purple. Just a bit of gel pen stitching,3 gems and some foam pads, card complete.

Totally Ladybug Tuesday

Check out this gorgeous little cutie, isn't he adorable and what a dream to colour! that Tams knew exactly what she was doing when she chose "Baby" as the theme for this week's challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink, I'd like to say thanks Tams as this is the first time I've got to colour one of the LCI cuties.  Do check out the baby stamps, the rest of the set are adorable too!

I am hoping that the recipient of this name book has received this already, either that or she doesn't read this post.

It took a rather long time with the nesties and the Cuttlebug but I really love making these name books for new baby gifts. I used the gorgeous image from the set on the reverse of the W and on the lid of box.

I  nearly had a tragedy when I went to make the box as I'd lost the scorer for my trusty Fiskars trimmer, I panicked a bit then remembered that I bought a spare a while back,it's for a different model and although it isn't quite as good,it did do the job.

I'm using this gift for the following challenges:-

Spot On!

I've had the lovliest day today, it's my birthday and I've been thoroughly spoilt,  I've even received some lovely crafting goodies from some of my beautiful Ladybug buddies, you girls are the best!
I didn't have a lot of crafting time today but had just enough time to make a quick CAS card, I'm not so happy with how the stamping looks in the photograph,I actually added a few gel pen dots to the flourishes but the photo makes it look like a bit of bad stamping,it isn't, really!

Old Witch!

Hello campers, Hi di hi! What a beautiful bright day we are having in my neck of the woods,we started off  with the first frost of the season but it's lovely now! When I was sorting out the other week,I found this image that I coloured up last year but never used so thought I'd make a Halloween card just to use the old witch up lol

The silver stars is a piece of net fabric with them printed on,it's been in the drawer for years along with the angel wire????? once upon a time I used it loads!  The glitter is purple stickles and the cat is a rather splendid button that was lurking at the bottom of my craft tote.

Going Round In Circles.

Ok,ok,ok! I know you must think I'm overdoing it with the number cards lately,I apologise profusely but I just have to say I like making them and I really can't help the fact that I seem to have a lot of "special" birthdays on my calendar at the mo!
Today sees a new challenge theme at Scrapbook Sisters, the theme for this week is "Circles" so for my DT card I combined the need for an 18th card and the circles using a combination of my Nestie circles which I used to cut the aperture and the frames and my revolution nesting circles as they proved to be the best size for my alphabet stamps.

The numbers were cut on the Cuttlebug I wasn't sure about the green stamped letters so dotted them with my brown marker, looks much better me thinks! I used the star brads to echo the Lime Twist star DP.

Then added a place to write on the reverse of my card.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

Quick Card Needed

It's surprising how quickly you can put a card together when you put your mind to it! I discovered that my friend's son was celebrating his 18th Birthday today so needed a card quickly. So I cut 18 using my Cricut and the plantin's schoolbook cartridge, once as normal and once as a shadow. layered up my papers, gluing just around the edges of my layers, placed a scalloped square in the centre and with a bit of lucky placing, removed a square aperture  using my nestie square through my cuttlebug. I then cut a larger scalloped square, removing another square from the centre and placing a piece of acetate not quite as big as the scalloped square. I glued them together then placed them on the inside front of my card. The shadow numbers were placed on the inside of the acetate and the normal cut numbers were placed on the front. The whole card took around half an hour to make. It's surprising what you can achieve when you're up against the clock and you have the right tools.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Totally Papercrafts 88,Acetate,
Charisma cards 41,In stitches,
PDCC103,Colour recipe,
Whimsy 10,Die cuts or punches,
Color throwdown 163,colour.

Anything Goes!

Boy,it looks like I wasn't the only one to feel challenged by last week's challenge theme at Scrapbook Sisters,Never mind, today is a card challenge that everyone will love!  it's an Anything Goes! For my DT card I used my lovely new stamp and my old faithful Cuttlebug snowflake.

I covered my card, layering my papers, only running my glue around the edge, then  using my Nestability squares I removed the centre leaving an apperture but also leaving me with 2 squares of design paper and a square of card to use at a later date. (such a thrifty child lol!) My image I coloured using Copics, using a black jelly roll glaze pen for the eyes and mouth and stickles for the snow.

I placed the snowflakes where I would eventually glue then then worked out where to centralise my image(Get me I almost sound intelligent lol!) and dabbed a dob of glossy accents onto the ends of the snowflakes and firmed my  image onto them (ok,now you know I'm not ) after a few seconds I lifted my image, snowflakes intact and added a little glossy accents to the ends of the snowflakes where they met the design paper.  Ok,hope that makes sense,it's as clear as mud to me! I used glossy accents only because I've run out of my favourite glue.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Anything Goes 51,Die cuts or punches,
Heart songs 19,Die cuts.

Totally Ladybug Tuesday

Morning lovlies,it's Tuesday and time for a new challenge with the Ladybugs, this week it's Pinky's challenge and a great theme she's chosen for this week I must say.
 The theme is "Tag It"

Ok,a tag I thought, that'll be a nice quick one to do,let me share a secret with you,it took me absolutely ages!!!!!
The reason for this I'll share in a minute.
I decided to  use my "Dear Santa" stamp inking just the tree part of the image and stamping it over the edge of my "Cricut" tag and colouring it with Copics. The scallop was also cut on the cricut I just added a strip of self adhesive ribbon that I've had in my drawer for yonks and inked my edges.
Right, now this is where it all became time consuming:- firstly, how do you ever decide on which bits of ribbon to use,it would be easy if I only had a limited selection but oh no,I have jars and drawers of the stuff.......first one length was cut, then another, discarded some, returned to others AAAHHHGGGG!!!!! I now have a pile of short lengths of the stuff.  Next I added a few dots of glossy accents to the baubles,I did good there, never stuck my fingers in it once. Then, couldn't decide which stickles to use, ended up using 3 colours, red to the round baubles, icicles to the long ones and a tiny splodge of yellow to the star. So far so good! Then I added the button, threaded with the gold twine which I must have touched into the red stickles adding a few spots to my oh so lovely "White space" That'll be ok,I'll pick it off with the tip of my blade.....can't be bothered so I'll do it with my nail,WHYYYYYYY! I scratched the card making an obvious dent in the card, Enter Snowflakes,  Save the day! Or so I thought.

It was then too late to bother with a photo so next morning I picked up my camera, checked out my tag feeling rather pleased that despite my troubles the tag was really rather nice. I then found myself fiddling with the button and managing to remove it from the dot of glossy accents I'd stuck it with, I know what I'll use to stick it firm with....Why I didn't learn from my previous day I don't know because I reached for a bottle of GOLD 3D paint that I squeezed and managed to dislodge the dried bit from the tip, followed by an air bubble that ejaculated a raindrop sized splodge onto the left side of my card! Moral of this story,"Don't Fiddle"

How To Cut A Rectangular Card With A Square Die.(Tutorial)

For my Scrapbook Sisters DT card last Wednesday,I made this tiny rectangular tag type card which I cut using my square Nestabilities. I have been asked a few times since how to do this and I promised that I'd do a little tutorial for it. Please ignore the terrible state of my hands,I think a manicure is definitely due, think I'll ask for one for my birthday lol!

1,Score A5 down centre

2,Fold

3,Place Nestability  with 1/2 of the scallop over the edge of the fold

4,Run through Cuttlebug

5,Remove from die,if the cut isn't clean, you can place 1 extra piece of cardstock under the cutting pad before running back through cuttlebug.

6,Move the folded card along one scallop before running back through the machine,C pad on bottom,B pad on top.

7,Remove edge to leave a rectangular card.

8,Cut another square of card.

9,Move the die cut along one scallop as before and run through the machine.

10,Remove the edge to leave a rectangle.

11,run glue around the face of the first, folded card.(I do this on the the side that looks less neat.)

12,Match up the scallops and firm down.

13,The finished card blank.

I hope that this has been of help, let me know what you think!
