Challenge 4,Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend.

This is my DT card for this weeks Scrapbook Sisters 4th Card Challenge, the theme is Diamonds are a girls best friend and as I needed to make a card for a friends 30th birthday I thought diamonds would be perfect! I cut an aperture in the card using a white Revolution Nesting circle and used Whitewash Coordinations through my cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder for the scalloped Nestie frame and the centre circle.
I punched my white flowers and shaped them placing some lovely "diamonds" from Paperchase into the centres. The flourishes were cut using a Revolution Flourish die,I added a touch of diamond stickles to these and around the inside centre circle. I hadn't any tiny gems suitable for the tiny punched flowers so used some holographic peel-off dots in the centres and added a spot of 3d glaze over them. This gave a great result and I actually prefer this look over the acrylic gems.

I really hope you come and join us again this week as every winner will be added into the Christmas draw for the soon to be released Gayle Bond Digi stamps!

Sitting On The Fence.

Thought I'd share the card that I made to give my DH for our Anniversary tomorrow,Oh my word,I can't believe it's been 26 years! The image is a freebie digi by Polycraft, downloaded ages ago,and here's a little secret, this is the first time ever that I managed to size a digi and print onto card, not paper, entirely by myself. Normally my very patient son helps me with this sort of thing but I need to try and do this myself, especially when the extremely talented Gayle Bond is about to release a whole range of Digi's,I'm so excited about this, she is such a clever lady! I can't wait to get creative with some of her images!

Not entirely pleased with my fence, could kick myself now as I've just remembered a demo I've watched somewhere where Corduroy was used to create a wood effect. too late now, will make a mental note for next time.I coloured the image using Copics and added glaze and stickles to the stamped hearts. The great big juicy heart buttons were a buy from Paperchase and the greeting is Jane's script by Woodware.

I'm entering a few challenges with this card and have just double checked that the image is a Friday Freebie by Pollycraft and discovered that my card fits in with this weeks challenge too,a first time for me entering one of their challenges!

YUK!

That's all I have to say about today,it's wet, dark and miserable here in Kent today and summer is definitely over. There's a log on the fire and although we thought about going out for a while a heavy downpour soon put pay to that! I've not got a card to share today as the one I've made is for next weeks card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters, there's still time for you to enter this weeks though if you fancy making an "Over the edge" card.

I thought I'd share with you one of the layouts that I made in class recently,to be honest I took one look at the papers and wanted to run,They were not my cup of tea at all,but when you see the stunningly beautiful layouts that Julie made with these papers by Seven Gypsys if you're like me,you'll be amazed.I think this is why I make cards and only dabble at scrapbooking,I can't see past the 12x12, I just can't picture what to do with them unless I'm given the inspiration by Karen and Julie.Maybe I should try a few Scrapbook Challenges to make me think for myself and go freestyle, what do you think? I don't know where to look for scrapbook challenges though, anyone got any suggestions?
Anyway, that's me for today, not sure if I'm going to get much done in the way of crafting this week as we've got a man coming in to decorate but be sure to call by on Wednesday for the next card challenge!

Short And Funky!

This stamp was one of those giveaway ones from the front of a magazine,Born To Shop by Docrafts. I have never coloured this kind of image before but am fairly happy with how it turned out. The hair though, was a bit of a mishap,I've managed to make her look like she's sporting an Afro instead of the short and funky hair do that's on the packet. First I coloured it as the image was shown but the yellow hair look rather horrible so I started adding a few highlights, still didn't like it and it kind of progressed from there, like a hair cut in reverse lol!

Looks a bit cheeky doesn't she! How anyone can walk in such heels, let alone shop is a mystery to me,maybe it's an age thing but my cupboard houses only flatties!

I 'm using this for a couple of challenges:-
Simon Says Stamp,Jay Jay's Sketch,
Colour Throwdown 111,I'm hoping the hair can count for "river rock" with all those highlights!
TPE 84,Aqua,
C4C56,bling,

Friday Focus

Or should I say Friday Out Of Focus! cos that's what I've just noticed now that I've uploaded my photos,it is late in the day though,so go and have a sip of something naughty and you might not even notice lol!
I thought I'd check out some colouring demos today and this is the result, that Suzanne Dean sure is a talented lady! If I was half as good as her I'd be happy! My Gorjuss girl is Poppy fields by Sugar Nellie which I coloured using Copics. I wanted to follow a sketch for this card but hadn't an oval nestie so instead used my corner punch to round off the corners of my trimmed image.I'm still keeping to my quest to use only remnants and not to cut into any new sheets of papers or bazzil so the flowery blue paper is from the remains of pack Pink Parfait by Forever Friends.

I found some long forgotten velum that visited my Martha Stewart edge punch,I also cut some flowers from it and layered them onto the same flower cut in white. I added some self adhesive pearls to the centres of the flowers and shaped them.I treated myself to one of those Inkssentials thingys that you use with Distress inks the other day and thought today would be a good time to christen it,don't know how I've managed without one up till now,I think it's going to get lots of use.

I told you it was late in the day,I've talked about these flowers before I got here!so just in case you'd like a closer look, here they are!

I'm using this card for a few challenges:-
Sugar Bowl,Challenge 44,Lilian's sketch,
Paper Romance 17,handmade flower,
ABC Challenge,D is for distressing,
Scrappy Frogs,Flower power,
Tuesday Morning Sketches 60,Handmade flowers,
DCD66, Use velum,
Allsorts 70,Use 3 punches
I hope you have a lovely weekend and if you find yourself wanting a new challenge, check out Scrapbook Sister's Over the edge card challenge this week,

Bits And Pieces.

Don't you find that as a crafter you collect bits and pieces of this and save off cuts and remnants of that! This card is made up using some of this in my quest to get organised. I even left a margin of white card base around the design so as not to cut into yet another piece of yellow card stock!Even my Sugar Nellie girl is one that I'd stamped a while ago having coloured only her skin and hair so I set about with the Copics to finish her off to match the Basic Grey June Bug remnants.

I made the flourishes by threading beads onto craft wire and placed my flower over the fixing spot. The beads are a casualty getting dressed in a hurry and catching a bracelet on a button lol! I have rather a big collection of these cheap buys from Primark,I can't resist them and have them in loads of colours,so after scrambling around the floor to collect what seems like hundreds of beads I put them in with my stash.I then added a line of Stickles around the edges just for some extra sparkle!

I'm going to use this card for the following challenges:-

Paper Sundaes 36,Fabulous fall,

Charisma Cardz Challenge 38,Anything goes,

The Corrosive Challenge 82,Clean up the dust,

Ai Factory Challenge 49,Anything goes,
Delightful Challenge,Make it sparkle,

Scrapbook Sister's Challenge Goes Over The Edge!

This weeks 3rd Card Challenge at Scrapbook Sister's is "Over The Edge" I love making this sort of card but wanted to do something a bit different from my usual design.I removed just over half of the front section of the card which fits into a C6 envelope. I covered the inside to match the front and die cut 2x Sizzix flourishes which i glued together to make a stronger stem to attach the Sizzix die cut flower to,a double layer again so that the back looks equally as attractive as the front.

I punched a yellow circle and shaped it attaching it to the centre of the flower using a foam pad for dimension,I then added stickles. My Sugar Nellie Gorjuss girl "Sent With Love" was coloured using Copics and cut out before shaping and mounting onto the front of the card using another foam pad.I made a tiny tag using the stamped sentiment. There you have it,Over The Edge.
I hope that you feel inspired to enter this weeks challenge,

Two Down,Lots To Go!

Check out my new Christmas stamp, isn't it simply lovely? It's by Woodware and what a bargain it was at only £3.94 my little treat at the crop! I was going to add a greeting but hey, when else would you send a card with a Holly Wreath on it?

I stamped the image using Momento Tuxedo black ink and coloured it using Copics. I stamped the bow again and popped up the sides and tails using foam dots but glued the knot flat to the card.I added 3d glaze to the berries along with the tiniest dob of stickles. I then added faux stitching using a fine liner.

I'm going to use this for the following challenges:-
Secret Crafter 101,Anything goes,
That's another card off my Christmas list!

My First Easel Card

What a lovely sunny morning for my day off ,I spent the afternoon ironing yesterday so that I could craft guilt free today and this is what I've made so far. I have never made an easel card before but wanted to make something different for an 18th birthday.
I used Dreamy by Sugar Nellie,I cut the image keeping her feet out of the circle,I'm sure most of you know how this is doesn't but if not, check this out for the link. I mounted this onto a glittery paper scalloped circle,I haven't used this for ages but found this and the paper I used for my butterflies in the back of a drawer. Don't forget there's a Scalloped Circle challenge on over at Scrapbook Sister's this week! Now,looking at this photo the papers look turquoise but they are more of a minty green,I think the sunshine was playing tricks through the blinds lol!

I'm using this card for several challenges:-
Alphabet Challenge,U for unused stash,
Polka Doodles 37,Easel Card,
Crafty Catz 50,chocolate and green,
ASC 25,sparkley and glittery,
Paper Sundaes 35,Use 3 + embelishments,
Daring Cardmakers,There's something in the air,
Cute card Thursday 130,tweet of flutter,
and I think that's it!
Now I need to get cracking I'm at the Scrapbook Sister's Crop tomorrow so need to try for once to organise myself enough so that I don't end up taking the kitchen sink as I usually do.
Have a crafty weekend, thanks for stopping by,

Scalloped Circles.

Today's card is my DT Card for Scrapbook Sister's second card challenge. The theme for this week's challenge is "Scalloped Circles"My gorgeous green background paper is Petal Pushers by Bo Bunny. I snipped my smaller scalloped circle and added a shaped circle of yellow bazzil to make a daisy,
I punched a green scalloped circle then cut sections out of it to make the leaf using a circle die . I then shaped them over a scoring tool and placed them on my card using 3d pads at the lower edge and glue at the top edge. The stem of the daisy is in fact a revolution flourish die cut. I placed the flower and leaves onto this hiding some of the swirls. I then added a thin line of diamond Stickles onto each leaf.

Easy as that! Now what can you do with your Scalloped circles?Make a card and enter, you can do it!

Purrfect Digi.

I made this card for Julie over at Scrapbook Sisters who's birthday it is today. Happy birthday Julie and if you haven't got your card yet shut your eyes now! She's cat mad and I thought that the recent Facebook 24 hr freebie by Maurie J.Manning was Purrfect for the occasion, the image is called Fall and will available to buy shortly.

I coloured it using copics and added 3d glaze to the leaf. I went a bit mad with the distress inks but felt that it suited the papers well. I have no idea who the papers are by I'm afraid as they were some of my colour sorted off cuts, got to be honest,I am so pleased that I've started organising my papers as it took all the hard work out of making the card. I'm using the card for several challenges:-
Creative Card Crew,Autumn or fall,
Wee Memories Challenge 22,Fall into Autumn,
A Spoon Full of Sugar 121, Fall into Autumn,

Sort Out Sunday!

If you're expecting one of my usual "Sunday Quickies" I apologise, have had no time or room to create anything except a mess today! To tell you the truth,my stash has got so disorganised of late that I've been spending more time looking for things than I have actually making cards. I'm sure that most of you have been there right? Well I finally admitted defeat yesterday and decided enough is enough,I've started organising my stash, not how I want to at the moment but a make do,thin out of all those little off cuts,I've still got 12 drawers to go but I can't wait to get it finished. Does anyone know where I can get suspension files to fit 12x12 papers in the UK? Or if anyone knows of a better way of keeping papers organised and easily accessible I'd love to know.

Anyway on to today's card, made yesterday before I became uber stressed lol! The Sugar Bowl are having a Sweetie Search so I thought I'd give it a go,there was a sketch to follow and this is my interpretation of it,I added the little corner Scalloped circle quadrants as I felt my simple take of the sketch needed them. I hope that I fulfill the required needs to have several Sugar Nellie stamps as my collection at the moment consists of 5 Gorjuss girls and 2 Manga style Sugar Nellie girls.I do so love to colour all of these fab images and I'm sure my husband will be pleased to treat me to more once I've got my Stash tidy:)
I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
PRC15,clean and simple,
Lexis creations 22,Flower power,
That's me for today,I'm off to continue my sort out!

Special Request.

Fancy making a Pink and Black card? If you do,there's still 5 days left to enter one into Scrapbook Sister's Card Challenge, that is of course if you haven't entered already as several of my lovely regular visitors already have! Go on,give it a go,I'm sure you'll find a birthday or other occasion on your calendar to use it for.

Don't you always find that when a friend asks you to make a card for them to give that it takes longer to do! You wouldn't believe how long I spent in the shop today deciding on what paper to buy,of course I haven't ANY paper at home lol! I eventually decided on the stripey by Nitwits and the swirly green Petal Pushers by Bo Bunny,I hated cutting into it as the other side was just soooo gorgeous. I cut an aperture from the white card stock and then decided to add a layer of yellow card stock behind with a slightly smaller aperture so that there was a thin frame of yellow. I'm afraid I resorted to my usual numbers and bunting design but was asked to add Husband to the card, boy did this cause me trouble,I'm not entirely happy with the end result as I feel that it looks a little off balance. My friend however is ecstatic with her unique card but I feel I could have done better, maybe I should have just added a peel off Hb instead???
I'm going to use this card for the following challenges,
Southern Girls first challenge,Anything goes,
Creative Cottage,challenge 22,Celebration,
Penny's Paper Crafty 37,Birthday,
Incy Wincy Designs Challenge 58,Celebrate,
OLLCB62,Stripes,
It's been a long day and my bed is calling me so,Thanks for stopping by,

Sorry.......

Did you think you'd call by to see a new card tonight, you'll be forgiven if you think you've seen something very similar a few days ago,my last post actually. Trouble is,don't you find sometimes that you really like a layout that you've used so you want to try it again but with a different theme? I thought when I made the Thank You card on Sunday that it could work using other punches,I tried using several different snowflake dies and punches but none of them seemed to work,I was about to give up on the idea when I remembered my lovely Cuttlebug Ice Crystal cut and emboss die,I thought it would be far too big but as it turns out,it was perfect.I added Diamond Stickles to the die cuts and I also used a snowflake embossing folder on the white squares. The "Let It Snow" I stamped using a blue distress ink,I know this probably wasn't the best choice of ink but it worked ok,it looks stronger in colour in real life,I think I'll keep a look out for a slightly larger version of this wording if I want to make it again as I think it looks almost like an after thought greeting.Maybe it would look better if I stamped it in Blue and used clear embossing powder on it.

I'm going to use this for the following challenges:-
Pollycraft Challenge 60,Christmas with no red or green,
Paper Players Challenge 14,Clean and simple,
Sweet Stampin Challenge 42,Winter wonderland,(I stamped the Sentiment)
Bah!Humbug! Challenge 34,Christmas Carol or Song, Let it snow!,
Do you Know of any other challenges I could use it for?
I've had several comments from people asking If they can use this design,I am happy for anyone to do so but would prefer you to be a follower so that I can take a look at your creations, yours might turn out far better than mine!,also I like to link any cards that I make back to where the inspiration originates from and I would hope that anyone who chooses to borrow one of my designs could do the same.
Thanks for stopping by tonight to look at my first Christmas card of the year,
Happy crafting,

Sunday Quickie

Just a quick reminder to all of you that love a challenge, there's still 9 days left for you to enter a Pink And Black card into Scrapbook Sisters first Card Challenge! With that in mind I thought I'd set about using those colours for my Sunday Quickie.
The hardest thing about putting this card together was how to place the flowers,I started with a pink card base measuring 14cm square. I then cut 9 squares measuring 4cm then 9 squares measuring 3.5 cm I had a strip of the spotty doodlebug paper and punched 9 flowers using the punch over the edge of the card at different angles so that a small part of each flower was missing,I still wanted to use large gems as centres so took this into consideration because if too much flower was missing the gem would overhang, spoiling the effect.

I stamped my greeting before placing the flower so that I could choose the flower that fitted the available space best. How easy is that? The only thing that I think would have made it easier would be to have nestie squares but alas I haven't so had to make do with my trusty fiskars paper trimmer.
I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Two Sisters Challenge 6,Monochromatic,
Crafty Emma Challenge 2,Floral Frenzy,
Secret Crafter 99,Clean and simple,
AS24,Pretty in pink,
Cowgirls Sunday Challenge,Anything goes,
Karber Weekly 3,Thank you,
And that's it,Hope you've had a lovely weekend,go get crafting,
Thanks for stopping by,

Ribbons........Sorted!

Well, the tangle of ribbon I was telling you about yesterday is all smoothed, sorted into colour categories and wound onto acetate so that in theory I should be able to see all my ribbons at a glance, the only trouble is that I have far more than I realised so I could do with a couple more of the pencil cases I've put my rolls of ribbon in a separate box. Once it was all done I rewarded myself with a little play, again using unfamiliar crafting colours for me but it's good to take yourself out of your comfort zone once in a while....

Don't look too closely at the colouring though,I'm trying out some different card, I thought it was going ok till I used my blender to remove a tiny blip and it ended up bleeding a large splodge over the line! So annoying!
I think I must have felt a bit Autumnie(is that a word?) when I made this card,it started with the Basic Grey paper and led on from there,I stamped my Pink Gem Apple Mimi and coloured her to match using Copics (badly) I distressed the edges of the card using Antique linen then used some brown stickles. The rather huge looking buttons are flat backed self adhesive pearls which I touched with colour,I think I cast a shadow when I photographed them as they look unevenly coloured in the photo. I cut some swirls using a Revolution flourish die and placed toning shades of gems onto them.I find that the easiest way to attach lace to a card is to use a tape runner along the edge before placing it,here I used a toning strip of paper to lay it on first,I then folded the ends around it,removing the bulkier pieces so that it glued fairly flat to the front of the card but still leaving enough to make sure it stays secure. If anyone has any handy tips on how they attach their lace I'd love to hear them,it's good to share :) What do you think of the greeting? I found it in the drawer, had no idea I had it.

I'm going to enter this into a few challenges:-
FFF week 34,Pearls and Lace,
Simon Says Stamp,Pearls and Lace,
Stampin Royalty Challenge 35,Rhinestones and Pearls,
That's me for tonight,I'm off to try out an idea for a card, will let you know how it goes tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to make a Pink and Black card for Scrapbook Sister's new card challenge

Something Old Something New

And no it's not a Wedding card.........
My first day home alone in a very long time,I've loads to do but what have I done instead? yes you know me too well,I've made a card. I actually started to sort out the tangled bags that are my ribbon stash as I'd bought some clear long pencil cases which I thought would be perfect to organise it in but you know what it's like, the mind begins to wander and something inspires you so the rest is history. Here's the card. The Gorjuss girl was my mothers day present but I don't know how it happened but for some reason I slid it into my stamp file and never got around to inking it up.
I have come to the conclusion that I shouldn't blog hop before doing my chores as I'm sure that this is the reason for my wandering mind, after seeing Annika's gorgeous creations this morning it got the old juices flowing so Annika,it's all your fault lol!

The Papers are by Anna Griffin, they were papers used in a class project some time ago,I'm not a big fan of them and was reluctant to use the remnants but as my drawers are overflowing I thought I'd give them a go,how wrong was I,I so love them used in this card! Looks like I can manage a bit of vintage, even though it's out of my comfort zone. I think it was the brown lace I found when sorting my ribbons out :)
I'm using this for a few challenges:-
Paper play week 35,Stitches,
Crafty Calendar Challenge,Blue and Flowers,
TST week 25,Old meets new,"Old papers,New stamp",
Alphabet Challenge,S for Scallops,
A Crafty Little Place 54,Anything goes
Bunny Zoes Craft 3,Vintage,
Die Cut Dreams 63 Soft shades Vintage
Stamps R Us challenge 3,Stitches,
The Paper Players challenge 13,Anything goes.
Bizzy Becs Challenge 13,Vintage,
And I think that's that lol!
Dont forget that there's a brand new challenge started up at Scrapbook sisters and the launch challenge is Pink and Black! There's a fab collection of candy on offer as the first prize so come on,join the challenge!
Have a great Day,I'm off to do some chores now,

A New Chapter Begins!

My gorgeous baby has had her first day at secondary school and she loved it,isn't it wonderful to watch your child grow into a confident individual, she never ceases to amaze me and seems fazed by nothing I am a very proud mum,I have 3 lovely children!
This evening I put together this little card, just one to have by me, a just in case creation,I used my gorjuss girl which I coloured originally for my toadstool card but then decided that it looked completely the wrong colour for it. I threaded some tiny seed beads onto a length of wire for my girl to balance on,I have hundreds of them and thought it was about time I used a few I'm in great need of sorting my stash and I'm bound to come across more than a few more!

I made another of my ribbon flowers but this time needed only the one kind of ribbon for it and used a couple of buttons for the flower centre again as I just love the look it gives, good job I've hundreds of these too lol!

There are several challenges that I'm going to use this for:-
Papertake Weekly Challenge,Just the one (I've made 1 flower)
YNS challenge 24,Anything goes,
Tuesday throwdown 15,Ribbon with a twist.
I know there's a few more I could probably enter but I think that's enough challenges for me for one day. Talking of challenges, don't forget to make a PINK AND BLACK CARD to enter for Scrapbook Sisters Card challenge launch! You still have over a week to enter this and there's a brilliant prize on offer!

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge Launch!

Exciting news!!! If you've ever read my"About Me" you'll know that I'm on the design team for Scrapbook Sisters, well today they are launching a weekly Card Challenge and I have been asked to be on the Design Team for this as well. The first challenge is Pink and Black and tonight I'm blogging my DT card for the first challenge.
Pink cards just have to be my bestest favourite to make and the lovely glittery spotty paper by Doodlebug is just so scrummie. I've teamed it up with the deeper pink paper,"Mondovi
Ikat" Paisley Road collection by Prima,it doesn't show in the photo but it has an almost material like print with watermark flowers on,and it's double sided with the other side being large bright zigzags of colour.

The image is Dreamy by Sugar Nellie,I stamped her using Momento Tuxedo Black coloured her using Copics and added Papermania self adhesive flat backed gems to her shoes.

I made the flower by twisting ribbon into shape following a twist similar to the parcel bows you can buy. I needed to use two different ribbons together to get my desired results,I then stitched through the layers adding one button on top of another, inspired by Nancy's Button Bouquets

I wanted my greeting to be stamped onto the pink so to make it stand out I glued it onto a small piece of the pink and black spotty ribbon so that only the edge showed. Apart from the buttons which are from my stash, everything I used for this card is available at Scrapbooksisters

And there it is,my pink and black card. I really hope that this inspires a few of you to come and join the challenge as the prize for the first winner looks to be amazing.(I almost wish I wasn't on the DT so I could stand a chance to win.lol!)
The first challenge is going to run till the 14th of September so come on,sort out your pink and black stash and enter Scrapbook Sister's First Card Challenge!!!!
Thanks for stopping by,
happy crafting,
Julie.
