One More Sleep!

Well it's nearly here, just one more sleep! so just a quick post to show you the card I made for my in-laws. I have to say that this card is one of my favourite Christmas makes this year, my other fave was the Magnum and Christmas tree card that I dedicated to the Lovely Ladybugs!

Here's the close up of the Holly that I promised you yesterday,I just scored and shaped it,added some gold pen around the edges and some gold Luster rub on which is  a bit like cream eye shadow.

The image is one of Gayle Bond's along with the sentiment from a forever friends set of stamps. I hand cut the tiny tags and stamped with Dove Craft family stamps.

I stamped the inside of the card too with a snowflake stamp.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Alphabet Challenge,W, White Christmas,
CCC2,Christmas,
DD23,Tags,
Delicious Doodles,Anything goes,
FWSAM99,Frame it,
Stampin for the Weekend 23, Anything goes,

Leaf It Out !

It's time for a new challenge with Scrapbook Sisters and the theme for this week is" Leaves" for my DT card I used the rather lovely Ivy digi by Gayle Bond,it did have some lovely swirly tendrils on the digi but it didn't fit in with my design so  once I'd used the Copics to colour them,I cut round the leaves only.

My card is just a tiny gift card which I cut using my Nestability Squares, yes I did get the shape right lol I wanted a scalloped rectangle so to achieve this I  cut the square then moved the die along one scallop and ran it through the cuttlebug again, easy!

I'm using this card for the following challenges:
Celebrate The Occasion32,Use ribbon,
MIM56,Anything goes,
The Ribbon Girl 11,Colour challenge,green&brown.

Just 4U

Good evening all, let's see what sort of a mess I manage to make of tonight's post. I seem to end up with a different result every time and  I must admit to getting more than a little downhearted with it all. Before I get on to my card tonight,I'd like to say how disappointed I am to not be able to post comments at the moment I visit lots of blogs and like to leave some love, there really are some amazingly talented crafters about. I don't know about you but I'm getting fed up with Blogger's antics, the amount of times I sign in,trying to post comments and only succeeding occasionally,it's a right pain.
Anyway, enough of the moaning and on to tonight's card. I found a 5" square of scrummie floral paper that I've been looking at for ages and up until now, just couldn't bring myself to use, the only product info left said "FlipFlops".I thought that this looked just the thing to use with one of  Gayle Bond's new car digi images.

I  used the paper as it was for the centre of the card, matted it onto purple and then onto the pink front panel of my card i was able to cut 4 part flowers from the leftovers to position onto the pink, disguising that they weren't complete flowers with clever          placing. The frame I cut using Nesties and placed in the centre of the card using foam pads. I then punched some tiny flowers to        match the papers. The image I coloured using Copics, cut out and    placed some acetate cut from packaging to serve as the windscreen. I then shaped the car and placed this using foam pads.I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
DDSB60,Anything goes,
PCJ11,Favourite anything,(floral paper)
Paper Play 21,Blossoms and blooms,
ABC Challenge,V is for violet,
PWC115,Birthday card,
Paper Shelter 15,Anything goes,
Claudia and Co 82,Girls birthday,
My Time to craft 142,Use die cuts,
JAI69,fussy cutting,
Card Makin Mamas,Use scraps.
That's all from me for tonight,

Check Me Out!

Well,I'm back again, experimenting with Picasa,I even taught myself a little something tonight lol!
I added text to a digi,no assistance required either, still can't get the hang of adding them to my picture album though,I'm doing it but how I have no idea!
Anyway,on to tonight's card! The digi is one of the AMAZING new car digi's by Gayle Bond, available exclusively at Scrapbook Sisters. I just added the text to the number plate, removed part of the image and stamped the greeting. Now,after entering this week's Less Is More challenge with this card,I found myself going through alternative ideas in my mind as to how I could make another one layer card with embossing, suddenly I remembered one of my earliest crafting buys,my Scrapboss by Fiskars. I must admit to having used it only a few times in the last 6 years, even considered getting rid of it but it was great for this card,I played around with lots of other embossed lines, dots etc.,but this is what I settled on. I used my Copic fine liner to add my doodled lines and that's it.
I'm using this card for the following challenges :-
Less Is More 15,One layer with embossing,
Cards For Men,Someone Special,
Incy Wincy 94,CAS,
Shabby Tearoom 62,Monochromatic,
Make It Monday 37,Anything goes.
Be sure to call back tomorrow,

Breaking News!

I posted a card a couple of weeks ago using Gayle Bond's Cross Image,I said at the time I would let you know once it was released. Well, the Cross and another beautiful Easter image have now been released, you can find examples of cards made using both of the digis here, along with a link to the Scrapbook Sister's shop where you can view all of Gayle's beautiful images.. I thought you might like to see another card that I made using the cross but excuse the photo, the colours look a bit harsh and after seeing it on here I was going to alter the card and distress the edges of the embossed image but in real life it looks just fine, so I decided not to lol! I cut my card using a Scalloped Nestie then cut another from Yellow felt, don't know if you've tried it but it cuts beautifully, you just need to add a thin piece of card on top of the die when you run it through the Cuttlebug to ensure that there is a good clean cut. Something else I discovered purely by accident was that if you place a piece of felt over the embossed image and run it back through the cuttlebug with the die back in place,it softens the embossing slightly, give it a try and you'll see what I mean. I'm using this card or the following challenges:- AI73,Bright as day, Craft Us Crazy 5,Here comes Spring, Crafts And Me 28,Use Yellow, Creative Craft World,Easter, Spoonfull Of Sugar 145,Easter, High Hopes 105,Use fabric, Creative Stamp Friends 21,Spring, Karens Doodles,Easter, Woodware USA20,CAS. That's all from me for today, Thanks for stopping by, Julie.x

Scrapbook Sisters Week 27.

Can You believe that it's Wednesday already! Time for another Card Challenge and week 27 at Scrapbook Sisters has the theme Easter Flowers. Now,normally I'd go for my old faithful when it comes to Easter cards and use my lovely Tulip stamp,(if you take a look at last years card, excuse the photo, what a difference a year of blogging has made :)
This year though,I thought I'd have a go at using the beautiful digi by Gayle Bond,it is due to be released any day now and is available exclusively at Scrapbook Sisters. I coloured it using Copics and cut the cross out and used pop dots to mount the circle frame and then the image. I must admit it took me a while to decide on the layout of the card but once I decided to cut the cross out instead of leaving it as the rectangular shape I originally had planed, the rest fell in to place.

It would be lovely if you joined in with this weeks card challenge, there's also now a monthly Scrapbook Challenge that's started if you fancy giving it a go.
Thanks for stopping by today,

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge 24

Nice to see you today, you're just in time to see my DT card for this week's card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters. This week's theme is Lace and Pearls. I've used one of the New Release Digi stamps by Gayle Bond and this one is called "All Dressed Up"

I used lace to make a simple flower finishing it off with a button.

Apart from the self adhesive pearls that I used for my flower centres I used liquid pearls on the girls necklace and bracelet.

I almost wish I'd got a big sister to give this card too as I'm sure I'd have tried on all of her clothes,I have two big brothers,I'm waiting for the image of a little girl dressed in a hand me down Parka and jeans, fishing with her daddy, lol! I was that girl!

In The Background.

Check out this fabulous new Digi by Gayle Bond, the image is called Fashion Lady 1 and is available exclusively at Scrapbook Sisters and is part of her recently released range of digis. I was playing about, trying to decide what size to print her out when I came across the idea of making smaller images of different sizes into a background paper,I printed them out onto some white pearlescent paper.I haven't a home for the card but thought it would be an ideal image for a new job which is why I printed out this sentiment. I used my Copics in shades of grey to colour the image and added some dew drop gems which I coloured black.
I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Design Dollies,Have a hand in it,stitching and lines hand drawn,

Scrapbook Sister's Card Challenge Fifteen

This week's card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Non Traditional Christmas, now,I didn't realise what a traditional girl I was as when I looked through my stash, all I could find was the traditional coloured papers.

Luckily I remembered that when I was ill the other week,my husband treated me to a card magazine which had some free papers in by Kaiser Craft and these were just perfect.

I made a gate fold card using the Snowman with Attitude Digi by Gayle Bond, did you realise that you can flip images before you print them out? I had a few lessons from my daughter so I thought I'd put the technique to good use and print them out facing one another, You can almost hear them saying "Snap" lol!

I played around with the papers, taking different images from the selection and layering them together. As I'd used the inside of the card for the main focal area,I used some die cuts for the back of the card to write my greeting,I just inked around the edges to add interest.

The snowman on the front of my card is from Gayle's set of Christmas stamps but it is also available as a Digi stamp, you can find Gayle's digi's HERE,they are available exclusively at Scrapbook Sisters.

I hope you feel inspired to join in with this week's challenge,
Thanks for stopping by,

It's week 13 at Scrapbook Sister's Card Challenge and this week's theme is "Patchwork" great for using up all of those off-cuts. The papers are " Forever Friend's Santa's on his way" and the flat backed self adhesive gems are by Papermania,I brushed the edges of the squares with a chalk eye and added some fake stitching. Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge 10,

Week 10 at Scrapbook Sister's Card challenge is a really lovely one,"Christmas Colours",now everyone can do this one right? the clock is ticking and it won't be long before December is here and we're all panicking that we still have cards to make,so why not enter the challenge and knock another card off the list!

I decided to make another frame card, this time using one of Gayles Digi's,available only at Scrapbook Sisters. The minimum order restrictions have now been removed from the website so that you are able to purchase the images individually,do take a look as the images are stunning!

I printed out my image twice then used removable Herma to put some DP over the cardigan area and pop it through the printer again so that the image was printed directly onto the red spotty paper.( it's a good idea to mark the card that your printing on before you put it through so that you are sure that the second run through is going to print in the same spot. I put top front on mine just to be sure.) When the paper is printed I just remove it from the cardstock, cut it out and use a copic marker in a similar shade to add depth and shading.I then was able to add this to my coloured image adding my string of lights which I coloured and cut out from the other print out.(Hope this makes sense)

I used my revolution flourish to cut the gold mirri card and added a silver bell to my ribbon bow before attaching this to the front of my card. The greeting is from a Woodware set "Christmas Sentiments"The papers are from the A5 Forever Friends paper pack "Santa's On His Way"

I added some 3D glaze to the lights and the bauble and a touch of stickles to the image.
Everything that I have used for this card is available at "Scrapbook Sister's apart from the bell which came from Paperchase, bargain at £3.75 for 72!
Hope you join us this week, thanks for stopping by,

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge Week 9.

Well, another week has flown past and already we are up to Challenge 9 at Scrapbook Sister's Card Challenge. This week the challenge theme is Autumn,my favourite time of year. I just love the gorgeous colours of the trees at the moment.

I decided to make an easel card using a Gayle Bond digi stamp, available exclusively at Scrapbook Sister's the "Seated girl"was just perfect for this. I coloured her using Copics and mounted her on to the folded edge using foam pads.I cut a Scalloped edge using the Cricut and glued one flat to the bottom edge and used foam pads for the middle, bottom one, placing them so that they make a wavy line effect. The greeting is from a set of Papermania clear stamps,I stamped it using Distress inks, cut it free hand and double matted it.

The flat backed self adhesive gems are also papermania and the flowers are a selection of prima flowers.

I think this girl should be called Claudia as she so reminds me of Claudia Winkleman. What do you think of the fur trim to the coat and hat? I so enjoyed playing with the colours,my youngest thinks it looks like Leopard print. I just dotted various colours all over the area then covered them using E00,not blending them,I then put a few drops of blender ink onto a piece of tissue and dabbed it over the area several times, looks great I think.
Hope you join us this week so that I can come visit your blog,

Just A Quick Post

I so wanted to share this card and envelope with you tonight but my laptop had a different idea and wouldn't let me transfer my photos from the memory card.......
Finally managed it but it's so late now ,I'm almost too tired to type. The image is another of Gayle's Digi Stamps.

A really easy card, just a bit of matting and layering, took a while to decide as I was going to use some patterned papers but to be honest, the image is just so stunning, nothing else was needed,in fact I'm sure that the image would look just as stunning nude without the addition of the copics.

I coloured the dew drops with copics to match the colour of the image. and run an ink pad around the edge to distress the card.

If you've never tried adding texture to your coloured design, give it a go. I put a few drips of blender onto a piece of lace and touched it onto the bricks,it gives them a great mottled effect.

Then I thought I'd get a bit clever and make a matching envelope. I printed the image directly onto some pearly white paper, took a few attempts to get the positioning right but then after a few mishaps was able to cut out the envelope on the Cricut. To be honest though,if you've one of those enveloper jobbies,I'm sure it would be a bit easier. Anyway,I've saved it on the computer now so from now on it will be much easier I hope.

I added only a touch of colour to the image, the computer ink takes on a silvery look printed onto the pearly paper.

I added a matching liner to the envelope.

I'm using the card for the following challenges:-
Crafty Pad,Challenge 94,Christmas,
Mami Doodles 12,Christmas/thanksgiving,
Stamp Something challenge,October,Digi Day,
Bah Humbug 41,Elegance.
Copic Creations,Colourless blender trick.
Digi Doodles 30,Keep it simple.
I'm using the envelope for the following challenge:-
Crafty Cardmakers,Digital plus
That's me for tonight, don't forget to call by tomorrow to find out about the new challenge this week at Scrapbook Sisters,
Thanks for calling by,

Cricut On A Sunday!

Haven't had a lot of time to play with my birthday present much this week so when I found myself with a little time to spare today I plugged it in and thought I'd see what I could do. I love using frames on my cards and was over the moon to discover that I can now make them whatever size I want instead of having to rely on my Sizzix dies,BRILLIANT!!!!
I even managed to "fake" the out of the box nestie cut by marking where the frame met the legs and then cutting up to the mark and slipping them through the frame leaving the rest of the image within the frame. How great is this Digi stamp, another by Gayle Bond, there's several of these girls in her collection and they make a change from my usual style of image.

I used distress ink to stamp the filigree swirly leaves onto the card blank before using inks to distress the edges. The leaves are part of the Flowers and Fauna clear stamps also by Gayle who designs exclusively for Scrapbook Sisters. The greeting is by Studio G.and the papers are remnants of Basic Grey I believe.

I coloured the image using Copics,

and added a few if these lovely flat backed gems from my stash.

I'm going to use this card for a few challenge:-
ASC28,Distressed,
I Did It Creations 26,Surprise me,
Crafty Hos',Photo inspiration,
2Sisters 10,Anything goes,
Fairy Knowll.Autumn,
Stamp Something,Use a digi.
Tuesday Throwdown 22,Anything goes.
I thought I'd show you something else that I made using the Cricut,I can't believe how easy it all is. My plea to you if you have one that's gathering dust is get it out and have a play with it. I for one am delighted to finally be able to make the right size envelope to fit a Nestie card without
any hassle at all. Don't they look fab!

Thanks for stopping by and remember, there's still plenty of time to make a pet themed card for this week's challenge at Scrapbook Sister.
Hope you've had a great weekend,
Julie.x
p.s. Thankyou for all the birthday wishes that I recieved over the last week,I had a lovely day on Friday and was given some amazing hand made cards which I will share with you soon.Jx

Gayle's Digi's

Gayle Bond has designed a gorgeous collection of Digi stamps which are available exclusively at Scrapbook Sister's,You can follow the link to see the Stunning range of 22 images. How lucky am I, I have been given a few to play with. :)

I coloured the image using Copics, used a chalk eye to distress the edges and added "stitches" around the image using a brown fine liner. The DP is part of the Mod Posy range by Dream Street, not sure of the name of this design though I'm afraid I'd already removed the vital part of the edge strip.

I used my new toy to cut the scalloped edge strip, which I ran a dressmakers pattern tool along to pierce holes at regular intervals.(I have no idea what the tool is actually called but I've had it for over 30 years.) I stitched through the holes with embroidery silks.

I'm using this for the following challenges:-
Bee Crafty 40,Halloween,
ASC27,Halloween,
Pear Tree Designs 22,Free For All,
Belli Challenge 102,Pumpkins and fall,
Creative Cottage 25,Halloween,
Sisterhood Of Crafters,Halloween,
In Style Stamps,Spooky Inspiration,
A Spoon Full Of Sugar 126,Boo.
I found out last night that I have got a 2 challenge Guest Designer spot over at Southern Girls, how brilliant is that!
