Feeling Krafty?

It's "Team Lou's" first challenge of 2013 and what an exciting year it's going to be as Southern Girls have some amazing new sponsors this year!
So without further ado, the theme for this fortnight's challenge is
For my DT make I decided to alter a notebook inspired by my gorgeous Saturated Canary Image
S.C. are one of the sponsors this time and I have to be honest, this is the first time I have ever coloured one of their digi's, I now need to colour up some more!
I thought the notebook would be a fun little gift for my friend and work colleague who is a new mum, in our job, planning is essential!

I'm using this for the following challenges:-

MIM, Anything goes,

Remember Me?

This has to be the longest  that I've gone without blogging for a long time, I don't know where the time's gone. It was half term for us last week and we spent a few days away, it was torture for me, don't get me wrong, I had a brilliant time and spending time with my lovely family is always good but I didn't take any crafting stash with me, not even a pencil or a pair of scissors!....... Never again!!!!  I've lost my mojo somewhere along the way, I can't colour and you won't believe how much paper shuffling I did before changing my mind completely and giving up the idea of  making a card altogether! I even made completely the wrong DT project initially but luckily, I had just enough time to make/ cover  this note pad and the bonus is that I already have a project ready for the following challenge, lol!

Anyway, before you run off, bored by all my waffle, the theme for this fortnight's TLT challenge hosted by Sally is

So,as long as you're project has something along those lines in it, this is the challenge for you!

I used a notebook, parcel tag, staples and a paperclip, stamping only part of  "Shopping Ruby by LCI" on to my tag before making a poor attempt at colouring her, sorry Kerry, I must try harder lol! I did enjoy collaging all the elements, I've had the scrap of "My Minds Eye, Follow your Heart" paper on my bench for ages, I've stroked it and used most of the double sided paper but this piece was just so special, it needed to wait for the perfect moment to be used! Ruby fitted the bill a treat, she so reminds me of my niece who I've made the note book for. Check out my crocheted Rose too, I made it last year and it's been in my drawer ever since!

A Little Something.

Ok, I'm at it again, making apologies for a quick post.

I thought I'd share a couple of the gift wallets that I made for the lovely ladies at Scrapbook Sisters as the closed their doors for the last time a fortnight ago.

I thought I'd taken photos of them all but unfortunately, in my hurry to deliver them I only took photos of the inside of the other two that I made for Julie and Barbara so I'll just share the ones I made for Karen and Jeannie.

The wallets held packets of Forget-me-knot seeds.

I'm using these for the following challenges:-

Paper Shelter 80, Tag you're it,
Bearly Mine 51, Anything but a card,

Fancy A Refill?

We get through lots of notepads where I work,so I thought I'd have a go at making a fancy cover for one to give to my friend for her birthday using the same papers as I used for her Birthday card. I've covered lots of pads in the past but as the pad would be used up in a short time,I thought I'd have a go at making a cover that could be refilled,if you get what I mean.

So I measured up the original front cover but only up to the spiral and then cut some thick card one eighth of an inch wider, then using a scalloped nestability die I removed a small segment from the top middle section,This is the inside of the cover. I then cut another front in green bazil and punched a hole at each top corner to thread ribbon through. At this point I wish that I'd thought to add some eyelets but I didn't think about this until I'd already put the front together.

Once the front was decorated I threaded some ribbon across the front passing the ends through and leaving them long enough to thread through the spiral and tie with a bow. To assemble the cover I used some strong narrow double sided tape close to the edge of the three sides leaving the scalloped cut edge open. I trimmed the original cover down slightly by about 1 cm on each of the three edges then slid it into the new cover. The ribbon was then passed through the spiral and pulled out to the front near the middle passing it over the middle wire and tying it with a bow.

I'm using this for the following challenges:-
Simon Says,Anything but a card,
Craft Your Passion 44,Anything goes,
KBCute Monday Challenge 2,Inspired by a book,(Well it was a note book that started this)

Teacher's Gifts

We wandered around the shops, wondering what to get for thank you present for the teachers, twice around the shopping centre making suggestions to a disinterested little face, suggestions made by me,nose turned up by daughter.
"What do you want to get then?" I ask,
"What I really would like"she says,"Is if you could make some of those lovely note books that you made as party gifts for my friends".
So back round the shops we go,looking for suitable note pads to cover. I couldn't believe it,could have had 3 made in the time we'd wasted wandering around.

So here are 2 of the 6 that I made,I won't bore you with showing the others but thought I'd show you these in case you get stuck for an idea of a cheapy little gift. I just replaced and decorated the front cover of a writing pad, easy as that, one happy daughter and a fraction of the price that I expected to pay. Even found a couple of challenges that I can use them for. I'm going to use the first Notebook for them both:-

Crafty Pad Challenge 80 , Photo Inspiration
Paper Playtime Challenge 8,Flower Power,
Crafty Catz Challenge 41, Anything but a card.

I don't tend to use much in the way of peeloffs these days so thought I'd use up some on the second notebook. I added some white gel pen stitching and some dew drops as centres which I coloured using Copics.
Nothing outstanding, but a way to use up some of the scraps of papers that are mounting up in the drawer.
