Just Gorjuss!

I used to colour up this Gorjuss girl all of the time, I'm feeling guilty that she's been neglected but I bet I'm not the only one to get carried away using new images over old.

The bit I love about this image is colouring those stripy stockings, aren't they the best to play with!

I used some scrummy Pink Polka Dot Bias Binding from LCI (don't forget to check out their 1/2 price Cling stamp sale) , added some rik rak on top and some punched flowers with large pearl centres.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Sugar Bowl sketch 81, Stripes,
Love to Create 10, Birthday,
MIM84, Anything goes,
Squirrel and Fox 15, Things with wings,
C4C131, Blue & White +1,
Allsorts 149, bottom left to top right,
TPC111, Bottom line,
Opus Gluei 128, use something you used to use.

Summer Fun

It sure has been hot the last couple of days and Scrapbook Sisters seem to have chosen a most apt challenge this week to go with the weather,"Summer Fun" not that I find the heat much fun.I'm even allergic to Sunshine lol! it's no joke when you've a family that likes sunshine holidays, I'm the one wearing factor 50,sat in the shade returning from tropical holidays without a hint of a tan line.

For my DT card I thought my Gorguss Girl would love a bit of fun in the sun so I put her in her brightest sunny dress and fashioned her a sunshine with the help of my Nestabilities.

Loving the Lime Twist,Out of the blue 6x6 paper pack by My mind's Eye Papers, just perfect for a touch of summer. That girlie looks like she should have worn a higher factor sun lotion though ,I went a bit heavy with the E21 me thinks !

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Craft Room Challenge,Summer Birthdays,
MTTCC146,Summer,
CCH73,Beautiful women,
CraftyPad 127,Bold and bright,
So how are you going to have fun this summer,if it's card making ,why not enter this week's challenge!

Scrapbook Sisters Week 19

The theme for this week's card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Thank You and this is my DT card.

I love the Poppy Fields Gorjuss girl by Sugar Nellie,I coloured her using Copics to match the lovely "Tickled Pink ,Fine and Dandy" 6x6 paper pack by My Minds Eye. I used a stamp from my stash and distress ink to stamp first onto scrap paper then around the edge of the image without re inking it.

The border punch is by Martha Stewart. The centres of the flowers are stickers from Paperchase. Everything else used in the making of this card is available at Scrapbook Sisters.

Hope you come and join us with this week's challenge,

Easel Does It!

Yes,I've done another easel card,I should have made 3 cards today but my husband decided to work from home some of the day so I lost my place at the dining room table resulting in just the one card.
The papers are magazine giveaway ones from a while back. I've used 4 patterns of papers in all,the raised section is made up of strips that had been cut previously which I layered up then added a length of gingham ribbon to. I stitched a button to the centre of my bow and stitched through the card as well just to make sure it was extra secure.

Check out how I've matched the pattern where the sections meet!
I covered a chipboard oval brushed the edges with a chalk eye and added stickles My lovely Gorjuss girl was coloured using Copics and mounted onto a Sizzix die cut frame,I I covered the back of the frame so that the centre hole isn't visible. I know this might sound odd but I liked the idea of the shaped stand up back, does this make sense to you?,I fear I'm making it all sound a bit complicated lol! I added more Stickles around the edge.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-
Southern Girl Challenge 3,4 layers of patterned paper,
Paper Playtime Challenge 19,Ribbons Buttons or Rhinestones,
ABC Challenge,E is for Easel,
That's me for tonight,I hope to get the other cards made tomorrow, till then,

Something Old Something New

And no it's not a Wedding card.........
My first day home alone in a very long time,I've loads to do but what have I done instead? yes you know me too well,I've made a card. I actually started to sort out the tangled bags that are my ribbon stash as I'd bought some clear long pencil cases which I thought would be perfect to organise it in but you know what it's like, the mind begins to wander and something inspires you so the rest is history. Here's the card. The Gorjuss girl was my mothers day present but I don't know how it happened but for some reason I slid it into my stamp file and never got around to inking it up.
I have come to the conclusion that I shouldn't blog hop before doing my chores as I'm sure that this is the reason for my wandering mind, after seeing Annika's gorgeous creations this morning it got the old juices flowing so Annika,it's all your fault lol!

The Papers are by Anna Griffin, they were papers used in a class project some time ago,I'm not a big fan of them and was reluctant to use the remnants but as my drawers are overflowing I thought I'd give them a go,how wrong was I,I so love them used in this card! Looks like I can manage a bit of vintage, even though it's out of my comfort zone. I think it was the brown lace I found when sorting my ribbons out :)
I'm using this for a few challenges:-
Paper play week 35,Stitches,
Crafty Calendar Challenge,Blue and Flowers,
TST week 25,Old meets new,"Old papers,New stamp",
Alphabet Challenge,S for Scallops,
A Crafty Little Place 54,Anything goes
Bunny Zoes Craft 3,Vintage,
Die Cut Dreams 63 Soft shades Vintage
Stamps R Us challenge 3,Stitches,
The Paper Players challenge 13,Anything goes.
Bizzy Becs Challenge 13,Vintage,
And I think that's that lol!
Dont forget that there's a brand new challenge started up at Scrapbook sisters and the launch challenge is Pink and Black! There's a fab collection of candy on offer as the first prize so come on,join the challenge!
Have a great Day,I'm off to do some chores now,

A New Chapter Begins!

My gorgeous baby has had her first day at secondary school and she loved it,isn't it wonderful to watch your child grow into a confident individual, she never ceases to amaze me and seems fazed by nothing I am a very proud mum,I have 3 lovely children!
This evening I put together this little card, just one to have by me, a just in case creation,I used my gorjuss girl which I coloured originally for my toadstool card but then decided that it looked completely the wrong colour for it. I threaded some tiny seed beads onto a length of wire for my girl to balance on,I have hundreds of them and thought it was about time I used a few I'm in great need of sorting my stash and I'm bound to come across more than a few more!

I made another of my ribbon flowers but this time needed only the one kind of ribbon for it and used a couple of buttons for the flower centre again as I just love the look it gives, good job I've hundreds of these too lol!

There are several challenges that I'm going to use this for:-
Papertake Weekly Challenge,Just the one (I've made 1 flower)
YNS challenge 24,Anything goes,
Tuesday throwdown 15,Ribbon with a twist.
I know there's a few more I could probably enter but I think that's enough challenges for me for one day. Talking of challenges, don't forget to make a PINK AND BLACK CARD to enter for Scrapbook Sisters Card challenge launch! You still have over a week to enter this and there's a brilliant prize on offer!
Thanks for stopping by,
Get crafting,

Not Mushroom On A Sunday.

I made one of these mushroom/toadstools a while ago and used it on a deco swap page and liked it so much I knew I wanted to do another some day.So when I saw a challenge for a different shaped card I thought it'd be a good excuse to make another.I think I can count this as different even though it's only an add on to a card.

The toadstool started off as 3 cream circles cut using my Cuttlebug and revolution nesting circles and 1 brown,by placing the die back over the die cuts I was able to remove sections of the circles giving nice clean lines. I used a brown sakura gel pen to roughly draw lines from the stalk area of the underside of the cap and used distress inks to give the appearance of dimension to the cream shapes. I shaped and added the stalk using a foam pad,I also shaped the "cap" and added a foam pad to the front middle edge and glue around the outside edge. My lovely Gorjuss girl is a little bird told me,which I stamped and coloured using copics,I then cut her out and sat her on top using another foam pad.
I'm going to use this for the following challenges:-
Wee Memories challenge 20,In the forest,
Allsort's week 67,From the garden or park,
Crafty Emma Challenge 1,Anything goes,
OCC colour challenge,
Mami Doodles Challenge 8,Be creative with card shape,
Stamp with Fun Challenge 73,Card for a girl,
Well, that's me for today,I hope you've had a good weekend,

100th Post !!!!

I can't believe that I'm making my 100th post tonight, how time flies when you're having fun,it's a good job that these days I'm quicker at it though as I do seem to be following an awful lot of blogs now. I spend many hours blog hopping. I also seem to have a few regular visitors to my blog now too, isn't it great to think people on the other side of the world are interested in what you've made,I just love it.

Tonight I'm showing the last 2 of the Gorjuss girl thank you cards for my daughter's teachers,I've enjoyed using different colours for them than I usually use and no that isn't because I've used up all the ink of my favourite Copics though I do seem to be buying a couple of refills each month at the mo. The first card I am using for the following challenge:-
SSS64, great sketch,
Charisma Cardz,Pink,

I love this blue card,I rarely choose blue but I definitely will now,It's just so cool and pretty looking. I've had these papers in the drawer for so long, they are like washable wallpaper and are called Sky Floral Quilt, Scrapbook Walls, very apt! They were leftovers from one of my Scrapbooking classes.I'm using it for the following challenges:-
TESC120,Sketch,
GC62,Spicy Supply Challenge-Markers,
That's it,the last of the thank you cards, now I have to get cracking on the 5 birthday cards and the mini book that I need for next week! maybe a couple will need to be "Quickies!"

Four Down,Two To Go!

What a lovely evening I've had,I went to my usual fortnightly scrapbooking class and ended up not only completing a layout but also had a little play with the lovely Karen's Copics, yes I know I've said it before but I LOVE COPICS!!! I'm just a little bit obsessed with them, the more I play with them, the more I want to play, there are just so many things that you discover just by playing!! (Sorry,I know I go on,they just get me that way)
Any way,I'm not here to sell Copics, though I think I could but to show you another of the thank you cards. I'm not fed up with colouring this Gorjuss image yet, hope you're not fed up with keep seeing my creations using them,I've only 2 more to show you after today and I promise to leave it a while before I use it again on here.

3 Cards,One Post.

Well,it's that time of year, the approaching of the end of the school year,my youngest is about to end her time in primary school and step out into the new grown up world of Grammar School. Usually I encourage my children to make their own thank you cards but this year I've been asked to make them for her and somehow I heard myself say yes.
Sorry if this gets a little boring as I've 6 cards to make and have been requested to make 5 cards using the same Gorjuss girl stamp and only 1 using an alternative.

Here's the first I love this flocked paper which was part of a paper pack by Laura Ashley that I received for mothers day, I've coloured my image using copics and added a few flat back gems by Papermania. I've used this card for the following challenge,
Crazy 4 Challenges,Red, Black and White,
Cute card Thursday challenge 120,School's out for summer.

The giraffe on the second card is an image by Pink Gem Designs and was chosen by my daughter because her teacher collects giraffes, I've just checked and although this image is no longer available as a stamp it is now available as a Digi Image.I have used this card for
Stamp Something's recipe challenge,1 design paper,1 ribbon,1 image.
By The Cute and Girly, July,Summer.
I'm now off to complete the ther 3 cards, thanks for stopping by,

Me,Vintage?

I made this card for my Mother-in-Laws birthday yesterday (hope you had a nice day Mum), Different colouring to my normal choice but I am very pleased with it and will definately use them again.

I'm not sure who the papers are by as I'd thrown the edge strip away without thinking but it was a double sided sheet. My Gorjuss girl was coloured using Copics I shaped her and used a foam pad to sit her on the scrummie, bargain lace from Scrapbook Sisters.

The letters are Sizzix Alphabet Sunset which I double cut and offset to give a two tone effect. The lovely gems in the centre of the flowers are Papermania.

I'm using this card for the following challenges:-

SCF Challenge 9, 3+flowers,

Kardsandklay Blogspot, Free for all

SMC19 challenge, Anything goes,

Challenge up Your Life 23,Vintage,
The Shabby Tea Rooms week 15,cottage comfort,
Stamp Something Challenge, something Vintage with flowers

Deco Swap

On the Scrapbooksister's forum there is an ongoing Deco page swap,if you're unfamiliar with what this is it's where crafters make 6x6 decorative pages in the chosen theme of the person you are going to swap with. My chosen theme for instance is Nursery Rhymes. I've received some real beauties that people have created for me using my subject choice.Pages on Rhymes such as Mary Mary,Baa baa black sheep,Pussy cat pussy cat,Hey Diddle diddle and Incy Wincy Spider.
When I first joined the swap I was a bit addicted and did my swaps within a few days of taking them on but I'm ashamed to say that poor Sue who made the most beautiful spider in a web for me has been waiting absolutely ages for her return swap.

Sue's chosen theme is Poetry so I did her page on my most favourite poem by William Wordsworth. I hope you can tell which it is.

The bit that I'm the most pleased about is the fact that I managed all by myself to download, alter the script and size of print and then print the poem out without calling on one of my family to help me,an amazing achievement for me lol! I've used distress inks on this as I thought that with the fact It was written so long ago that it should look pretty old by now.

I've added this to the reverse of the page along with a little flap where I have written my details
and reason for my choice. I just hope that Sue is as pleased with her page as I was with the one that I received from her all those months ago. Why not give this a go,I'm sure there are people waiting to swap with you.
You can take a look at some of the other pages that people have made on Scrapbook Sisters' Gallery.

Challenge 31 Judy's Sketch

I know I said I'd be too busy to craft this week but the Sugar Bowl challenge just has to be done,

Who can resist a little colouring of a Gorguss Girl! I certainly can't anyway. The challenge had to include some stars,I struggled a bit with this as I just had to use the beautiful new range of papers that came in at Scrapbook Sisters by Basic Grey called Green at Heart.I'm sure you know what it's like when you just HAVE to use that scrummie piece of paper that keeps calling from the drawer! Anyway,I managed the task eventually, took a bit of searching but it was worth it in the end.
Hope you've all had a good Monday,

Thursday, 11 February 2010

I promise that this will be the last of the Pink Parfait cards for the time being but this was the other card made using the offcuts from last night's post card.I added to this one of the Gorguss girl images which I stamped using a black Brilliance pigment ink pad and coloured using my Copic pens I then added highlights with a white gel pen.

I cut out and slightly shaped the image over the edge of my scoring tool then put 3d pads through just the centre of the body and tipped the edges of the image with glue.I like to do this as I think she looks Gorguss this way.

Hope the photo explains this better than I can.

Last night was the evening that I attend my fortnightly scrapbooking class at Scrapbook Sisters.Thought I'd share with you my interpretation of one of this week's projects.

Thanks for stopping by,
